Married Christian Expert on Child Spirituality Pleads Guilty To Possessing Child Porn
I’ve never been married, never had sex, because I was following the Bible’s teachings about sex being for marriage only, and yet, there exists a nasty stereotype in Christianity that singles, especially single women, are highly promiscuous.
Marriage is thought by some Christians to make people mature and more godly.
However, I keep seeing stories about married Christian guys who are arrested for rape, abuse, or porn.
The unmarried and/or childless are thought by conservative Christians to be perverted, selfish, slutty, or weird.
Say what you will about me, a woman who has never married or had children, but I do not use, look at, purchase, or produce child porn, and I have no desire to use it, look at it, or produce it, unlike this married Christian guy, who is also a father:

- Investigators also found pornographic images of children younger than 13 on six or seven computers as a result of a months-long effort, Therieau said.
…On his personal website viewed Thursday before its content was taken down, Ratcliff wrote on the subject of children and spirituality: “I appreciate children in all of their richness and complexity. They can be baffling, frustrating, delightful, and overwhelming. While I have studied child development in depth … I am particularly interested in the spirituality of children.”
…On Ratcliff’s biography page on the college’s website, it says he is on administrative leave. Before much of the content of the biography was taken down, it said he is a videographer and ham radio enthusiast who is married with three children. He also is a “lay leader” at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wheaton.

- Update (Aug. 5): Donald Ratcliff, a former Wheaton College professor accused of making pornographic images of children available for download over the Internet, pleaded guilty today to felony possession of child pornography. In exchange, prosecutors dropped nine other felony charges against him, reports the Chicago Tribune.
…On a webpage promoting his most recent book ChildFaith, Ratcliff described the importance of children and families in the church, writing, “Children are not the church of the future; they are very much the church today!” Christianity Today interviewed Ratcliff about his work in 2010.

- A former Wheaton College professor who has written books on children’s spirituality pleaded guilty Monday to having child pornography on his home computer.
When he was arrested last year, Donald Ratcliff had on his computer at least 500 pornographic images of children — some of whom appeared to be younger than 13 years old, DuPage County prosecutors said during his brief court hearing.
Ratcliff told police after his 2012 arrest that he sporadically had been seeing a counselor because of his interest in child pornography, prosecutors said.
…At the time of his arrest, Ratcliff taught Christian education at the suburban religious college famed for being the alma mater of evangelist Billy Graham.
He also had written 10 books on children’s spirituality.
The college fired Ratcliff shortly after he was charged and his wife quickly divorced him.
