Manly Christian Bros ‘Apologize’ for Letting Their Women Get Abortions / Bro Choice Men – Abortion Benefits Men Who Want No – Consequence – To – Men Sex With Women

This is from a left wing, secular feminist site (“Jezebel”), which is usually quite hostile towards Republicans and traditional values:

This is one of those topics where I’m not particularly on either side of the debate.

I am pro-life, right wing, and don’t generally agree with left wing feminists often.

While I think I understand the motives behind this pro-life video (which I have not watched, I’ve only read the summary of it by the secular feminist author), I think it was maybe not thought out well (again, going by the feminist’s description of it).

I can’t say as though I agree with feminists that men should have no say at all in abortion.

Some of the feminists leaving comments under this article are upset because the video in question (by a pro-life, and I believe, Christian, group) only features men, men whose ex-girlfriends or wives had abortions.

I don’t have a problem with men being able to talk about their experiences with abortion. It would appear that some of the men in the video now have regrets about the fact that an ex girlfriend (GF) of theirs had abortion years ago

I think they have a right to feel that way about it and to talk about it, so I’m not sure what’s up with all the feminist caterwauling in the comments about “as if haven’t men been allowed to talk about abortion enough already, why don’t they shut their pie holes.”

I do agree, with feminists, to a point, that many men often take over discourse of subjects pertaining to women, or, worse, just ignore what women have to say about any topic, even a topic that impacts women far more than it does men.

But in this case, we’re talking about men who were personally impacted by an abortion, and they want to discuss it.

I do find it odd that the men interviewed say that they, the men, have had an abortion.

But then, I also find it odd when a wife gets pregnant, and the husband runs about saying to all their friends and family, “We are pregnant.”

No, you both are not pregnant. Your wife is the one carrying the baby. You contributed to the pregnancy, but you, a man, are not pregnant.

I have more to say about this below this except:

Manly Christian Bros ‘Apologize’ for Letting Their Women Get Abortions

Excerpts:

  • A pro-life media group has released a new video called “The Apology,” in which square-jawed, manly Christian bros apologize somberly to the camera for allowing women they were sleeping with to have an abortion. “I should have manned up and fought for you,” one says, referring to the fetus.
  • The video is produced by a company called Heroic Media, which produces anti-abortion television, billboard and Internet ads telling women to visit crisis pregnancy centers instead of actual doctors. In “The Apology,” though, women are an afterthought; the men each say “I had an abortion,” then express remorse for doing so, in the form of lingering, pained glances into the middle distance.
  • “I was 28,” says one of the speakers, John Blandford, Heroic Media’s director of church relations. “I didn’t know God. I called myself a Christian. I would go to church a couple times a month. I had just started dating this gal, and she got pregnant.”
  • “We had a passive-aggressive stance,” says Daniel Phillips, another speaker, who says he’s “had” two abortions. “I was neither here nor there, so I never even fought for the opportunity to save the child.”
  • “I conceded to an abortion,” says Shane Idleman, the pastor of a church called Westside Christian Fellowship. “Even as a pastor, that decision still haunts me today. What would they look like? Would it be a boy? Would it be a girl? Their first step, saying ‘daddy.’ But those are just dreams, dreams that often haunt me.”
  • “I should have manned up and I should have fought for you,” Blandford says. “And I didn’t. I didn’t. I am so grateful that you are in Heaven with Jesus, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, and that you got to see him before I did. And I know you’re going to extend me grace, but I just—it would’ve been so cool to hang out with you here on earth.”

The video was sent out in an email blast by (Link): Repairing the Foundations, a project of the anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-everything American Family Association. Repairing the Foundations is specifically aimed at pastors, seeking to ensure that they’re sufficiently anti all the things that the AFA is against.

As to this part:

  • “I was 28,” says one of the speakers, John Blandford, Heroic Media’s director of church relations. “I didn’t know God. I called myself a Christian. I would go to church a couple times a month. I had just started dating this gal, and she got pregnant.”

That is an odd way of wording things. Several of the commentators at Jezebel (where this article is located), jumped on the guy for it. They point out that his girlfriend did not just “get pregnant.” He put his penis in her at some point.

The parts that stood out to me most, like in that quote by Blandford, are these men who fess up and say they were Christians when they were fornicating, that they were going around telling others they were Christians, some even going to church, but they were not virgins. One guy says he works as a preacher now.

Christianity Sexual Ethics 101: You are to remain a virgin until you marry. If you did this, if you sexually abstained, you would not be getting girlfriends pregnant when you are in your 20s, or at any age, and consequently, they would not feel the need to get abortions.

Contrary to what some of the commentators are saying on the Jezebel site, sometimes, yes, women are forced or pressured to get abortions, both here in the United States and in other nations (I believe China and maybe India).

I’ll see if I can find some links about that (I’ve seen such news stories online before).

  • Dec 2014
  • ROSENDALE, N.Y. (AP) – Police say a New York doctor choked a woman inside a home and forced her to swallow a pill that could cause an abortion after she told him she was pregnant.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded Wednesday night to a “no voice” 911 call from a residence in the town of Rosendale, 60 miles south of Albany.

Police say they learned that 44-year-old Dr. Thomas Pfeiffer, a licensed anesthesiologist from Red Hook, had choked the woman and forced her to swallow a pill that could cause an abortion after she told him a home pregnancy test had come out positive.

Excerpt

  • The fact is that Americans generally favor what Valenti abhors: restrictions on abortions. The Gallup Poll from May 2014 found that a full 71% of US citizens favor restricting abortion access, with 21% asserting that abortion should be illegal under all circumstances.
  • Only 28% form part of the Valenti camp, believing that abortions should be legal under any circumstance.
  • Another nationwide poll, conducted by CNN, found that a solid majority (58 percent) of respondents said that abortion should be legal under “few” or “no” circumstances, and that public financing of abortion remains heavily unpopular.

Anyway. The thing I picked up is that a lot of Christian men, even one self identified church pastor, were saying in that article that they were engaging in pre-marital sex (which they should know is a sin), and then allowing or encouraging their GFs to get abortions.

I know that the left wing feminists chaff at the word “allow” or “let” in these contexts, but

1. it takes two to have sex and make a kid and

2. since these men should have known that abortion is murder (or say now that they know that it is), they should fought the girlfriends on getting abortions, and either taken the baby in themselves and taken care of it, or legally fought the GFs to put the baby up for adoption.

Every single one of us was an embryo, fetus, or clump of cells. Boggles my mind that the feminists are so hung up on having no- to- little- consequence sex that they go along with abortion.

Also, some “feminist” men LOVE abortion, they love, love, love it – they’d rather screw as many women as they want and chip in for a $200 abortion, than have to pay child support or to father (as in raise and care for) a child.

I don’t think I’d be in such a hurry to date or have sex with a “pro abortion” guy if his motive is, “Hey all the no consequence sex for me, please!, I don’t care about the woman I’m sleeping with or any kid we conceive.”

Yes, these kinds of douche bags exist; please see:

(Link): Bro-Choice: Meet the Men Who Want Abortion Legal for the Sake of More Sex

I view abortion not only as being murder of a child, but as an easy way for men to use women and not be responsible for or about anything.

These feminists are being taken advantage of by men and don’t even recognize it. Or maybe they do and don’t care.

Excerpts:

  • by C. Fiano
  • In all seriousness, that about sums up the entirety of this blog post. The blogger, Ben Sherman, mumbles a bit about how this will KILL WOMEN!, but mostly he just whines about how there could be actual consequences for his actions now.
  • No more casual sex for men? No more using women and then dropping them off at a butcher shop to avoid dealing with any inconveniences that may suddenly pop up? Well, that would just be terrible, wouldn’t it?

Poor Ben Sherman might have to actually, you know, be a man and take some responsibility for a child whom he knowingly helped create (that is, if he actually does much potential-child-creating, which I highly doubt). In a follow-up post, he whines about people rightfully mocking him for what he wrote, and then calls this a “war on sex.”

  • It’s not exactly a new revelation that abortion benefits men, not women. It’s men who get to have sex with no consequences thanks to abortion. Even if a woman doesn’t want a baby, she is still the one who has to undergo an invasive medical procedure, and she is the one left to deal with the potential fallout afterwards.
  • Men don’t have to deal with any of that.
  • So guys like this Ben Sherman can pick up a girl at a bar, have some fun for one night, and then not have to deal with any repercussions, thanks to abortion.
  • It’s all on the woman. But of course, Sherman and his ilk are the ones who care about women somehow, because baby, they’ll love you all night long and then drive you to the abortionist afterwards.
  • Don’t you feel empowered and respected now? (Or are the better words used and abandoned?)
  • ..What Ben Sherman is anxiously trying to avoid is a society which frowned upon men who used and exploited women.
  • Abortion encourages men to be irresponsible and avoid the consequences of their actions, while giving them the freedom to do whatever they want. And women end up the victims. This is the “bro-choice” lifestyle that Ben Sherman is advocating, because evidently, it’s too much to ask for men to either use a condom or not have sex if they aren’t ready to be fathers.

The biggest point for me in all this are men who claim to be Christian are not only having sex prior to marriage (which is a sin), but encouraging their girlfriends to get abortions. One wrong on top of another.

And yet the majority of American Christian culture continues to choose to ostracize, ignore, or shame women like me, who remain virgins into adulthood, who don’t marry, who don’t fornicate, who don’t have abortions.
