Texas Pastor Sentenced to 30 Years After Using Hidden Cameras to Secretly Film Child Porn at Church

And all the stuff I heard from Baptists and evangelicals and Protestants as I was growing up about marriage, dating, and complementarian male headship is totally false!

Is church a good place to meet single men if you’re a single woman who’d like to date or marry? Nope. Not only do most churches lack single men, but the ones who do attend (and even work a pastors!) end up being child pornographers.

I’m not sure if the pastor discussed in the articles below is married or not, or if he’s ever been married, but he probably is – or was.

The fact that this guy is into child porn puts to rest the Christian dating advice chest nut that God only sends spouses to people who “deserve” a spouse or who have achieved some kind of pinnacle of spirituality or godliness, so that, the standard Christian thinking goes, that they’ve “earned” one.

If child pornographers are getting married, that goes to show that you, as imperfect as you are (I’m assuming you’re not into child porn), sure as hey are not less worthy of marriage.

It seems like about at least once a month, a news story breaks about some church staff or pastor going to jail for having hidden cameras in a church’s bathroom.

At this point in time, if you attend a church, you may want to scrutinize the facilities to make sure there are no cameras by your toilet or urinal.

A Texas pastor will spend three decades behind bars for secretly filming children as young as 11 years old getting undressed, bathing and toweling off at his church, authorities said Monday.

David Pettigrew and an accomplice set up hidden cameras in several locations in at least two counties by disguising them as hooks, clocks, charging blocks, a smoke detector, a picture frame, an air conditioner adapter and even a pen, according to the Justice Department.

The former pastor, who was arrested last year, later admitted that he filmed a child in his home and that he and his co-defendant secretly recorded multiple children at the Denison Church of the Nazarene in Grayson County, about 75 miles north of Dallas, federal prosecutors said. The victims were about 11 to 14 years old at the time they were unknowingly filmed.

Pettigrew, 49, also uploaded some of the footage to the internet, prompting two websites and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to contact authorities, according to prosecutors. An investigation led them to Pettigrew’s home and the church in August 2020.

…Co-defendant Chad Rider, whose involvement with the church was unclear, is still fighting the charges against him.

Both were charged with production of child pornography following a grand jury investigation last year.

A former Texas pastor has been sentenced to 30 years of federal prison after he pleaded guilty to using hidden cameras to record sexually explicit material of underage children at church and other locations.

David Pettigrew, ex-pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Denison, Texas, was sentenced to 360 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant on Monday. He pleaded guilty in April for using hidden cameras to record sexually explicit material of underage children at church and other locations.

According to the Department of Justice, Pettigrew confessed to secretly taping naked minors in Collin and Grayson counties, including at his church, using cameras disguised as hooks, clocks, a picture frame, a smoke detector, an AC wall adapter, charging blocks and a pen.

The children, ages 11 to 14-years old, had no idea they were being recorded while they were reportedly undressing, bathing and toweling off at the Denison Church of the Nazarene in Grayson County.

“David Pettigrew is a predator who used his position to exploit children for his own gratification,” said acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei in a statement.

…Collin County chiropractor Chad Michael Rider is also being investigated for allegedly conspiring alongside Pettigrew to film undressed minors. Pettigrew admitted to conspiring with Rider to record minors.
