Convicted Sex Offender on the Run for 20 Years Found Living New Life as Pastor, or “Musical Minister,” in Alabama
My parents used to tell me as I was growing up that church is a better place for single adults who’d like to marry to go “spouse-hunting” than other places, especially bars or night clubs.
I can see how maybe that was true in the past, but these days, I’m not so sure.
I don’t know or care if this bogus, sex offending pastor or minister mentioned was a “true” Christian or not; the point is, a lot of his church mates assumed he was a real-deal Christian.
So, could you imagine if you are a single, Christian woman, and he was single, you walk into this guy’s church, and you may just assume this guy is safe to date or marry?
Especially for those of you single, Christian ladies who are way too beholden to the “equally yoked” teaching.
If you’re a single, Christian woman who’d like to be married one day, you really need to get rid of the “equally yoked” teaching in regards to whom you choose to date or marry, as it will increase your dating odds if you get rid of following that rule.
If you insist on limiting yourself to dating only self-professed Christian men, you could end up dating or marrying a self-professing Christian man who by all appearances seems to be a devout Christian but who ends up being a child rapist, like the pastor in this news story below.
You may as well ditch that dippy, stupid rule and judge men by their behavior, not by what religion they claim to follow.

A convicted sex offender who spent 20 years on the lam was busted in Alabama — where he’d been working at a church for a decade, authorities said.
Larry Albert Flake, 75, was nabbed Friday in Birmingham, where FBI officials said he was living under an assumed name, Larry White, and was known to locals as Rev. White, FBI spokesman Paul Daymond told AL.com.
Officials at the Evergreen True House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church told the outlet Flake was a minister of music and not a pastor.
Flake, who was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor in Indiana in 2001, had served at the church for the last 10 years, leaving others clueless about his past, WBRC reported.
…Court records obtained by AL.com show Flake was convicted of attacking a 15-year-old girl in Richmond, Indiana, in 1999 as she left her apartment to visit some friends.
Flake grabbed the girl and forced her into his car, where cops said he raped the girl, who later picked him out of a photo lineup, AL.com reported.
Flake later failed to appear at trial and had been a fugitive since August 2001. A jury convicted him of sexual misconduct, a felony, but a mistrial was declared on the rape count. He was ultimately sentenced to 25 years in prison, the website reported.

A convicted sex offender on the run for 20 years was captured Friday by the FBI and Birmingham Police.
Larry Albert Flake, 75, was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor on August 30, 2001 from an incident reported to the Richmond, Indiana Police Department in 1999.
Flake was arrested Friday morning in the 5200 block of Huguley Road. He was living under the name Larry White, and was a minister of music for the last 10 years at a church nearby. He was known to many as Reverend White.
“I never would have thought that it was to this degree.” Pastor Willie Perry of the Evergreen True House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church said.
Pastor Perry is still trying to wrap his head around being lied to for 10 years by his minister of music who he knew as “Larry White”.
“He’s a good liar,” Perry said.
For the past decade, Flake has been leading the music at the Evergreen True House of Prayer M.B.C. Perry says he learned Flake’s real identity Sunday when he was arrested at a home near the church.
“It was heart wrenching. I mean you couldn’t imagine the horror of waking up and finding out that someone had this kind of checkered past,” Perry said.
….Perry tells us he hired Flake after receiving references from at least two churches but going forward, Perry is going to triple check someone’s background.

Police say they have found an absconding sex offender, who had been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexual misconduct, working as a pastor at a Baptist church in Alabama.
FBI agents arrested the convict, identified as 75-year-old Larry Albert Flake, in Birmingham, where he had assumed a new identity as a minister of music, under the name Larry White. He was posing as a minister at Evergreen True House of Prayer MBC, Belleville News-Democrat reported.
Flake was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor in Indiana on Aug. 30, 2001, Richmond Police Department said in a statement.
Federal agents had been looking for him ever since he failed to appear for the trial about 20 years ago.
Flake, who had been working as a minister of music for 10 years, was known in the community as the Rev. Lawrence White, True House of Prayer Pastor Willie Perry told WVTM, adding that he had become “part of this family.”
…Flake was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl while she was on her way to meet friends, according to the Birmingham News.
He had been sentenced to 25 years in prison in Indiana — 10 years for the sexual misconduct charge and an additional 15 years as a habitual offender.
