And, again: marriage does not, contrary to all the “pro nuclear family, pro marriage” groups and individuals keep arguing, make people or society more godly, mature, ethical, or responsible.
This is also another example that contrary to all those Christian dating and “how to get married” advice articles I used to see back in the 1980s and 1990s, God, if He exists, it not insisting you meet some set of criteria before he will allow you to marry – if God is permitting pieces of garbage like this guy to marry, I can tell you, this same God is not very likely to be holding a higher or different set of standards for you (or for me)

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — In the living room, a man “laying on his back with severe blunt force trauma to his face.”
In the back bedroom, a woman “positioned on the bed nude on her knees with severe blunt force trauma on her torso, arms and face.” She also had a laceration on her back.
…According to the arrest report, the deputies got there at about 8:40 p.m. for an armed domestic dispute. “Upon their arrival at the scene, the suspect, identified as Guillermo Silva, 57, was being held down by the [surviving victim]. Deputies detained Silva and conducted a sweep of the residence where [the two other victims] were located” and pronounced dead.
The detective who wrote the report said the manner of death was “an apparent homicide. Silva was transported to [the hospital] where he was treated for minor injuries received from an altercation with [the surviving victim] before deputies arrived at the scene.”
That surviving victim, who had driven up from Lake Worth, had some sort of relationship with the dead man and woman.
On the night of July 2, 2022, Palm Beach County deputies reported to a deceased person call on Cherry Road.
There they found the bodies of Lagos’ parents.
Both bodies received blunt force trauma to the head and face but the mother was found “positioned on the bed nude on her knees with severe blunt force trauma on her torso, arms and face,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The person who reported the deceased bodies to the police was Gabriela’s eldest son. He had swung by his grandparents’ house to drop off some money. Gabriela’s son waited in front of the house and blew his horn for his grandparents to come out.
According to Silva’s recollection in an affidavit obtained by Law & Crime, he was awakened by his son and had a knife on him. Fearing that his son was there to harm him, he claims he was defending him when he was overwhelmed and held until police arrived.
However, his son—named “Victim #3” in the document—said that Silva came out and told him that they were inside. When he ventured into the house, Silva had his knife ready and threatened him. The end result was the same in both stories: Guillermo Silva was restrained by his son and held until police could arrive.
At that time, he is said to have confessed to his son that he had killed the two elderly people. In speaking with law enforcement, he claimed that he didn’t know what started the altercation with his son but that he had been drinking earlier in the day and doesn’t remember killing anyone.
The Recordings
Also worth noting, Silva allegedly recorded the beatings on his mother-in-law’s phone and showed it to his wife. She had since returned from Chile and said she was shown the video at some point. In speaking with WPTV, Gabriela said that Silva was eager to show her something:
“He recorded videos for me, to see my parents dead. I can’t believe it. He’s a monster, that he can do that to two older people.”
Lagos’ mother was 79 and her father was 80. They had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June 2022. “They took him like a son. They gave him everything. I don’t know why he did that. There’s no explanation,” she said.
At the time of the murder, her adopted 11-year-old son was also inside the house but wasn’t hurt. Silva is charged with two counts of homicide and one count of aggressive assault with a deadly weapon.
A Florida man facing murder charges for the death of his wife’s parents allegedly filmed their dead bodies, according to his spouse.
As Law&Crime previously reported, Guillermo Silva, 57, is currently behind bars and accused of committing two murders and one assault inside the family’s home in Palm Beach County early this month.
Upon his arrest, the defendant claimed to have no recollection of the violent events that transpired there, according to the arrest affidavit.
In a bizarre twist, his wife, Gabriela Lagos – who who was out of town at the time of the incident – says that Silva offered to show her video evidence of the aftermath of the killing spree inside their home once she returned.
“He said, ‘turn the camera on, turn the camera on, I want to show you something,’” Lagos recently told West Palm Beach CBS affiliate WPEC. “He recorded videos for me, to see my parents dead. I can’t believe it. He’s a monster, that he can do that to two older people.”
The grieving daughter of the deceased insisted she did not watch the footage.
