American Conservatives, Including Men, are Celebrating the First Female Prime Minister of Italy, But Some of These Same Guys Complain about American Women Having the Right to Vote
Today, I’ve seen headlines go through my Twitter about a woman, Giorgia Meloni, who will be Italy’s first woman Prime Minister – liberal media the world over are disturbed, because Meloni is a conservative.
The reaction of conservative, American men on Twitter has been to take joy in pointing out the hypocrisy of progressive and liberal media or persons for either expressing horror at Meloni’s position or for them not publicizing it or celebrating it at all.
While I agree that yes, liberals and progressives are complete hypocrites about sexism – they will not support conservative women at all – I can’t help but notice the male (and sometimes female) conservative hypocrisy and double standard at play too.
To this day, both conservatives AND progressives lambast (white) women for how they vote in American politics and I’ve see male conservatives even imply they do not believe American women should have the right to vote.
After Trump won in 2016, liberals, feminists, and progressives churned out a lot of white-woman-hating articles and tweets screeching and yelling about white women and how white women vote.
I’ve done a few posts about this on my blog before, such as:
(Link): The Creepy Crusade Against White Women By Liberals and Trump Haters
I am fine with conservative men supporting a conservative woman getting posted to position of Prime Minister in Italy,
but,
if they have ever seriously hinted, or joked, about thinking that American women should not have the right to vote in the United States,
or if they have indicated in the past that a woman’s “only” role or purpose in life is to marry and have children (implying that women have no place voicing their political views or working in politics), they are totally hypocritical to be celebrating the win of this Meloni woman in Italy.
And yes, progressives are flaming hypocrites and are patronizing for shaming women who vote Republican, or who are conservative or who are pro-life, and are hypocrites for suggesting that such women are conservative or vote Republican only because they have “internalized misogyny.”
Returning to conservatives and Republicans on this matter:
It’s not consistent to celebrate a conservative woman in Europe being placed in a high political office while simultaneously shaming women in the United States for however they vote, or for thinking women should not have a right to vote at all, are too dumb to vote, or should only concern themselves with baby-care and nothing else. Totally hypocritical.
Conservative commentator Jesse Kelly shared this tweet, so I take it he’s in favor of a conservative woman politician being Prime Minister in Italy. (His twitter account is here). I will also place a screen cap of the tweet he shared by another guy here:
If Kelly is apparently in approval of a woman being Prime Minister in Italy, I don’t want him to continue to tweet comments, as he’s done in the past, suggesting that American women should not have the right to vote…
Same goes for all the other conservative men I see in favor of this woman being Prime Minister in Italy.
It’s aggravating to see how so many American conservative men will normally fall back into sexist tropes about how women should only be wives and mothers, shouldn’t have the right to vote, and they maintain these positions and view points, UNLESS and UNTIL a conservative woman coming into power politically (in whatever nation), causes liberals and progressives in whatever nation to have conniption fits.
It’s hypocritical for conservatives to only approve of women being in positions of power if they believe this “owns the libs,” to see the liberals go into melt- downs.
Conservative men should be supportive of women voting or for running for political office, not only when it “suits” them, because they believe they are scoring points against progressives.
Edit. Earlier this evening, I watched Tucker Carlson’s (Carlson being a conservative pundit) show on FOX, and he spent the first several minutes of his show extolling the wonders of Meloni – because she’s pro-God, pro-family, etc., and she speaks out against the far left.
That’s all well and good, but this goes to demonstrate my earlier points – this is the same Carlson, who, just a few months ago, (Link): actually blamed ALL (American) women for the actions of a male mass shooter.
Guys like him only appreciate women when those women can be used to “own the libs,” to infuriate the left, as this Meloni woman is currently doing; she is really upsetting progressives the world over, much to the delight of conservative men.
The rest of the time, conservatives will spout off incredibly demeaning, sexist commentary about women as a group – as does the left. Progressives, liberals, and Democrats are also sexist against women.
