Conservatives In Civil War Over Whether or Not Porn Stars Can Be Considered Conservative or Should Be Permitted To Attend Conservative Events

Conservatives In Civil War Over Whether or Not Porn Stars Can Be Considered Conservative or Should Be Permitted To Attend Conservative Events

I am a conservative, I don’t support pornography, but I’m not sure if I agree with other conservatives who have been saying lately that pornography movie actors cannot be conservatives.

It’s my understanding that some conservative type symposium sponsored by TPUSA (Turning Point U.S.A.), aimed at high school and college aged students, recently invited or permitted to attend, a porn star named Brandi Love, in Florida.

Ever since, conservatives have been feuding about this.

Some are saying, yes, porn actors should be permitted into the “conservative tent,” (or into conservative functions) while other say, “no way!”

My opinion is that yes, even porn stars can be politically conservative if they like, but I’m not sure it’s wise for one to actually attend an event for college students – and some said that while she was in attendance, she wore some kind of name badge with her “porn name” on it, to advertise her porn site or something(?)

I don’t think conservatives should defend porn, because porn is ultimately harmful to society and to women in particular – defending sexual hedonism and perversion is the province of liberals and leftists.

I see some overlap here and among the Christian faith, because a lot of Christians and churches used to defend the practice of remaining a virgin until marriage  (as they should), but in years past, they have begun defending sexual impurity and saying sex outside of marriage is no big deal.

Some churches, when having a “pro sexual purity” or “pro celibacy” event during church hours have been known to hire known fornicators – I’ve done posts about this subject in the past.

The Christians will never ask or hire an honest- to god- adult virgin to give a “sexual purity” lecture, no, they’d rather hire a person who FAILED at sexual purity.

It would be like hiring a food-addicted, 600 pound adult to give a “pro healthy eating” lecture at a church. It makes no sense.

Cancel Culture?

Some people are trying to market this move – of TPUSA of revoking her day pass – as cancel culture, but I’m not so sure.

If conservatives were trying to “cancel” Brandi Love, they’d be trying to ruin her entire career; there would be an on-going Twitter campaign by conservatives to “dog pile” and harass her on Twitter (which is not going on, AFAIK).

(If conservatives are harassing her, they should knock it off. I did read that some conservatives are defending her on Twitter.)

So far as I am aware, there are no conservatives writing to any of Love’s employers and demanding that she be fired and never allowed to work ever again – that would be the sort of thing that “cancel culture” leftists do.

Also note Love was not banned from the political conference due to differences in political opinion – the left always cancels people over political dissent. This banning was more over morals, not over a difference in view points.

Here is some material about this conservative feud:

I’m not sure if I agree with all of this essay or not:

…Now, the conversation has begun on the internet (read flame war) about where pornography fits into the big tent of conservatism after a right-leaning porn star, Brandi Love, showed up and was subsequently booted from a Turning Point USA event due to her profession.

This sparked a debate about whether or not Love can actually be a “conservative” and be a porn star with many of conservatism’s big names saying she can and others saying she can’t.

NEW YORK (RNS) — A former Hillsong NYC staff member has come forward with allegations that the megachurch’s former pastor Carl Lentz subjected her to “bullying, abuse of power and sexual abuse” over the course of seven years as she worked as a nanny in Lentz’s home.

“I felt trapped and silenced. I also felt so ashamed and I had been told not to say anything or tell anyone,” Leona Kimes, 37, told Religion News Service via email Sunday (May 30).

This is an update to my previous post about this situation.

Excerpts:

In her first interview since filing a federal lawsuit against the company of financial guru Dave Ramsey, Caitlin O’Conner described the company as a cult and said employees fear to make missteps in their personal lives for fear it will be reported to their work superiors.

O’Connor filed the federal lawsuit after she said she was fired for having premarital sex and becoming pregnant.

…That story featured audio of Ramsey speaking to staff, mocking employees who engage in premarital sex.

A once-in-a-decade population census has shown that births in China have fallen to their lowest level since the 1960s – leading to calls for an end to birth control policies. But some in China say these policies aren’t the only thing that’s stopping them.

Despite being hassled by her mum about it, Beijing resident Lili* is not planning to have children any time soon.

The 31-year-old, who has been married for two years, wants to “live my life” without the “constant worries” of raising a child.

“I have very few peers who have children, and if they do, they’re obsessed about getting the best nanny or enrolling the kids in the best schools. It sounds exhausting.”

Lili spoke to the BBC on condition of anonymity, noting that her mother would be devastated if she knew how her daughter felt.

But this difference of opinion between the generations reflects the changing attitudes of many young urban Chinese toward childbirth.

Married to the Job: How a Long-Hours Working Culture Keeps People Single and Lonely  by S. Jaffee

Married to the Job: How a Long-Hours Working Culture Keeps People Single and Lonely by S. Jaffee

The following was true even prior to the advent of smart phones and Covid. I had one full time job in the early 2000s where my commute was a 45 minute drive either way – by the time I got home from my job, I was exhausted.

I had no energy to put on a fresh coat of make-up and meet men to date them at local restaurants. I just wanted to get into my PJs, scrub off the make-up, watch two hours of TV, then go to sleep.

Excerpts:

Demanding bosses, impossible workloads, 24/7 email – no wonder many employees feel they have no time outside work to find love

….But recently she [a never married woman named Laura Hancock] had a moment of realisation. “I can’t afford my rent, I have no savings, I have no partner, I have no family. I’m 38 and most of my friends have families; they’re buying houses,” she says. “There is a lot of grief around that. I feel like I’ve just landed on Earth, like a hard crash on to the ground, and am looking around and feeling quite lonely.”

Hancock is one of the many people in recent years to recognise that they have devoted themselves to their work and neglected everything else that might give their life meaning.

Allegations Mount in 2017 Deceased Christian Apologist Ravi Zacharias Illicit Online Relationship Scandal – He May Have Been Sexually Harassing Women Staff at a Spa He Owned

….Updates Below…

Zacharias died a year or two ago. He was a well-known Christian apologist. He used to have a television program on the Christian network TBN years ago.

In the last few years, all sorts of allegations of sexual abuse have arisen around this guy. Here’s a new link about it below.

I do believe he was married.

So many Christians keep promoting marriage and “family values,” yet so many keep getting caught out in clergy sex abuse scandals or extra-marital affairs. I’m not yet seeing how being married is making any of these guys more “godly” or ethical than singles.

I think I remember reading an article saying that Zacharias sexually harassed women who worked at a spa he owns.

I found a few links about that; here’s the first one:

(Link): Christian Apologist Ravi Zacharias owned two health spas in Georgia

Three business colleagues say he sexually abused the female therapists

…It would appear that Ravi Zacharias invested in two health and massage spas in Georgia in the 2000’s.

Based on interviews in recent weeks with his male business partner and two women who worked with him in the spas, Zacharias was sexually out of control with the female therapists, over whom he had professional power.

A junior analyst at an investment bank was regularly harassed by her sex-obsessed boss — and was fired shortly after she caught him masturbating in a conference room, according to an explosive lawsuit.

Logan Williams, who worked as a first-year analyst in the New York office of Marathon Capital, claims that her ex-boss, managing director Chuck Hinckley, regularly screamed at her to “shut up,” shared unwelcome details about his sex life and got too close to her at the office during the pandemic.

A Museum of Sex employee says she was constantly subjected to sexual harassment by drunken customers and coworkers and when she complained her bosses told her it’s “the nature of the establishment,” according to her new lawsuit.

Katherine McMahon said she worked at the Fifth Avenue museum — which houses over 20,000 artifacts relating to sex — as a gallery attendant and researcher getting paid $13.25 an hour from February 2018 until she was forced to quit in December after her and other female employees’ concerns were neglected, the Manhattan Civil suit alleges.

America, Home of the Transactional Marriage

America, Home of the Transactional Marriage by Victor Tan Chen

The country’s exceptionally thin safety net prompts residents—especially those with less-steady employment—to view partnership in more economic terms.

Over the last several decades, the proportion of Americans who get married has greatly diminished—a development known as well to those who lament marriage’s decline as those who take issue with it as an institution.

But a development that’s much newer is that the demographic now leading the shift away from tradition is Americans without college degrees—who just a few decades ago were much more likely to be married by the age of 30 than college graduates were.

Today, though, just over half of women in their early 40s with a high-school degree or less education are married, compared to three-quarters of women with a bachelor’s degree; in the 1970s, there was barely a difference.

Despite a boom in flexible working, many singles say they’re still picking up the slack from colleagues with families. Career coaches are advising them to say no.

…“The assumption [by employers] is that you can drop everything or that you don’t have a care in the world [if you are single and do not have children],” says Chaka. “Actually, as a single, life is more expensive, you have to run all errands yourself and you don’t have someone to fall back on financially if things go wrong.”

Corporate workhorses

During research for his book Going Solo, Eric Klinenberg, a professor of sociology at New York University interviewed hundreds of single people in Europe and America and discovered “there was widespread perception that singles became the workhorses in corporate offices”.

Pastor Actually Questions, in the Year 2017, If It’s Acceptable for Mothers to Work Outside of the Home.

I cannot believe we are in the year 2017, and Christians are still asking about this sort of thing and pontificating about it. To even ask and muse about this in 2017 is just sexist.

In regards to this story linked to below, Dee of Wartburg Watch asked on Twitter, something along the lines of, how much money does preacher Todd Wagner earn so that his wife (assuming he has a wife and kids) is able to stay at home all day to watch their kids?

How many of the women in Wagner’s church congregation (who may even be mothers themselves) have jobs outside the home, part of whose job income are paid to him in tithes, so that he can afford to have his wife stay at home and be a stay at home mother?

Excerpts:

July 28, 2017

by Sheryl Lynn

The pastor of a multi-site church in Texas [Watermark Community Church] recently responded to a question on whether the Bible says it’s OK for moms to work.

While it’s not forbidden, Todd Wagner questioned the motive behind a mother choosing to work over being at home with her children.

// end excerpt

“While it’s not forbidden.” – Yes, you can end it right there. Anything beyond this is Wagner’s opinion.

Woman Fired From Christian Preschool Teaching Job For Having Porn Side Job

Woman Fired From Christian Preschool Teaching Job For Having Porn Side Job

Well. This is interesting for a few reasons, one of which is, the Christian school that fired her states that pornography is a form of fornication, but a preacher who writes sermon material for other preachers (Link): said that porn is NOT a form of fornication and so is supposedly not biblical grounds for divorce. LOL.

The woman in this story sounds as though she has a Geranium in her Cranium. I also feel rather sad about people who reduce sex to just a physical act devoid of any deeper meaning than finding it pleasurable. Women like this are objectifying themselves – sad.
