Susie Troxler always wanted to be a mother. Now, at the age of 50, she is.
Troxler gave birth to her first child, Lily, on Sept. 29 at Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.
“It was so surreal,” Troxler said in a press release from the hospital. “Everything had come together for that moment to happen. It’s hard to wrap our heads around. We’re no longer just husband and wife, we’re ‘mommy’ and ‘daddy.’”
Troxler and her husband Tony, 61, were married in 2008 and tried multiple times to have children at first, naturally. Then, about two years ago, she started in-vitro fertilization treatment and later, egg donation, FOX Television Stations reported.

Armed with recent scientific research suggesting that the quality of sperm is declining in the West, the companies are trying to make sperm-freezing a routine procedure for young, healthy men, one covered by health insurance and free of stigma.

I think I understand what medical professionals mean by the term “geriatric mother,” but they need to drop it – women who are 40-something are not old geezers.

Let me start by saying I didn’t mean to have a baby at 40. I meant to have a baby, but I had hoped to have one much earlier.
When I was 24, I told my boyfriend that he had better get me pregnant soon because my eggs were going to shrivel up and die. For some reason, we didn’t last.

Woman, 47, Gives Birth to Her First Child an Hour After Learning She Was Pregnant

- When severe abdominal pain sent 47 year-old Judy Brown to the hospital Wednesday night, she was shocked at her diagnosis: She was in labor.
- A doctor at Beverly Hospital told Brown she was pregnant at about 6:20 p.m. An hour later, daughter Carolyn Rose was born, according to The Salem News .
“I was in a little shock,” Brown, a first-time mom, told The Salem NewsThursday.
According to WCVB, Judy and husband Jason have been married for 22 years, and the couple’s approach to having kids was always, “If it happens, it happens.”
The healthy baby weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long.
