Another Example of Why the Equally Yoked Teaching is A Joke for Single Christian Women : Baptist Preacher Arrested for Allegedly Fire Bombing Ex Girlfriend’s House While She Was In It

Aside from the “equally yoked” think being a JOKE because this Christian is apparently a wacko, violent idiot – I’ve seen some photos of him, and he appears to be an unattractive, bloated Mr. Potato Head. It’s a wonder he’s able to snag girlfriends at all.

Not sure if this freak has been married previously and/or had any children: if he has, that blows another hole in the Christian myth that married people and parents are more mature and godly than singles or the childless.

Lewis’ ex-girlfriend, Sarah Nottingham, said she has been terrorized by Lewis since their breakup.

She says, ever since their breakup last year, Lewis has been trying to hurt her and her family. Nottingham says she has an active restraining order against the pastor for vandalizing her car and setting fire to her bushes.

Lewis has been named as a suspect in four other cases of harassment and vandalism against Nottingham, including a fire in bushes in front of her home, according to police. She had taken out a restraining order against him.

Along with evidence implicating Lewis as a co-conspirator, detectives found an illegal handgun and suspected methamphetamine in the pastor’s home.

Lewis was arrested for arson on an inhabited dwelling, conspiracy and stalking. He is being held at Solano County Jail on $500,000 bail.

“I’m living in a nightmare,” Sarah Nottingham [Lewis’ ex girlfriend] told CBS Sacramento. “My kids are so scared. My son knows that this is a pastor and that his previous pastor is threatening his mommy and his family, and the sickest part about it is that this man claims to be a man of God.”

Nottingham is convinced that Lewis is the culprit behind all of the attacks.

“He’s got these blue eyes that anyone can look into thinking they can see this man of God but he’s pure evil,” she said.

The ex-girlfriend of a Vacaville pastor accused of conspiring with three others to firebomb her family’s home was in court Tuesday about getting a restraining order against the man.

Pastor Mark Lewis’ ex-girlfriend, Sarah Nottingham, appeared before Solano County Superior Court Judge Garry T. Ichikawa. On Jan. 2, he approved the Vacaville woman’s request for a temporary restraining order amid allegations that Lewis was behind several acts of vandalism at her parent’s home and vehicles.

Following those alleged incidents, a Molotov cocktail was hurled through a window of Nottingham’s home in the early morning hours of Jan. 9, and Lewis was arrested the following day in connection with the incident.

Nottingham first sought a temporary restraining order on Dec. 23, 2013, but it was not granted. Her second request, on Jan. 2, was, according to the judge’s comments.

Former N.Y. pastor convicted of raping 2 teen girls

Former N.Y. pastor convicted of raping 2 teen girls

There is a link below to a news story of a preacher who raped two teen aged girls.

If you are a single Christian woman who would like to get married, please stop limiting yourself to Christian men only.

I know you’ve had that “be yoked” teaching crammed down your throat since girlhood, and still hear such advice in columns in Christian magazines today for singles, but not only are there not enough single, adult Christian men out there for all the Christian ladies who would like to marry one, but the ones who are Christian sometimes end up being abusive, child molesters, or rapists, as in the story below.

There are some decent, caring Non-Christian men out there; you could end up in a marriage to a Non Christian guy that might go better than if you had married a “Christian” who is abusive to you, or who rapes children.

I also have many news stories on this blog about the porn addiction among Christian men (and there are a lot of them who have this issue), Christian men who use prostitutes, and ones who have been arrested for owning, or distributing, child pornography.

If you are an un-married Christian woman who wants a shot at getting married, you are going to have to consider dating or marrying a Non Christian guy at some point.

Preachers will keep lecturing you to “wait on God and God’s timing for a spouse,” or only consider Christian candidates as marriage material, but you will end up staying single if you go with either bit of advice.

    Jan. 15, 2014 – 2:06 pm

NEW YORK — A former New York minister has pleaded guilty to raping two teenage girls, one of whom belonged to his congregation.

Prosecutors say the Rev. Michael Clare was convicted of rape on Wednesday. Under the terms of the plea deal, he will be sentenced to five years in prison and will register as a sex offender.

Clare was the pastor of the Harvest Worship Center International in the Bronx. He admitted performing the acts with a 13-year-old girl in 2007 at his home and with a 14-year-old girl later.

Preacher Found Guilty of Murdering His Second Wife, Probably Killed The First One, He Had Affair With Vulnerable, Grieving Woman at His Church

Not only did this guy murder his second wife (and apparently his first one), but a few sources says he started an affair with a grieving widow in his church. An all around stand up classy guy.

And married people are morally superior to single people. Don’t forget that, now. Evangelicals and Baptists believe that singles are randy rabbits that hump everything in sight and are not as mature as married couples.

I also wonder how sicko freaks like this guy – who manipulate emotionally wounded women for sex, who murder two wives – get spouses, while the decent, normal people of the world go single.

“Death At The Parsonage,” a look at former Jackson Township pastor Arthur Schirmer — awaiting trial in his first wife’s death after being convicted of murdering his second wife — will air on CBS News’ “48 Hours” at 10 tonight.

Schirmer was pastor at Reeders United Methodist Church in Jackson Township in 2008 when second wife Betty Jean Schirmer died from a head injury her husband said she had suffered in a crash.

Arthur Schirmer said he was driving Betty Jean to the hospital, after she had complained of jaw pain, and that their vehicle crashed into the guard rail after he swerved to avoid a deer on Route 715 in Pocono Township.

In October 2008, three months after Betty Jean’s death, police investigated Joseph Musante’s gunshot suicide in Schirmer’s church office and learned Musante’s wife, Cynthia Musante, had been involved in an extramarital affair with Arthur Schirmer.

Three Different Preachers Caught Molesting or Raping Kids – No Point in Christian Single Women Holding Out for Christian Men to Marry When So Many Christian Men are Perverts

Three Different Preachers Caught Molesting or Raping Kids – No Point in Christian Single Women Holding Out for Christian Men to Marry When So Many Christian Men are Perverts

Some of these men might be married and/or fathers, and if so, this again blows holes in the Christian propaganda and theories that married people are more mature or godly than people who are childless and single.

Secondly, this goes to show that single Christian women can and should consider marrying a Non Christian man, since even Christian males who are employed as preachers are perverts.

I’ve noticed also that a lot of times, the men who molest kids tend to be in their 50s (well, one guy below is in his 20s, but usually, they seem to be in their 50s, for some reason, and occasionally, you’ll see one that is in his 60s), and child molestors tend to be ugly as fuck. The men in the links below are no exception: ugggg-leeee.

As far as the common age of offenders: maybe these men start out molesting kids when they are in their 20s but most don’t get caught until they are in their 50s? Or is there something about turning 50 that makes a guy want to start molesting children?

One of these preachers molested little girls while driving them TO CHURCH services, according to another news page I read about it. Unbelievable.

He’s taking the little girls to an environment where one supposes they will hear about how Jesus cares about them, only for this sick fuck to prey on them sexually on the way there, on the way to the church (one report said he fondled them in his car on the way to the church).

If those girls reject the Christian faith on that basis, I would not be surprised, nor would I blame them. If there is a God, I do not know why he does not intervene on the spot, on the instant, and protect kids in situations like that.

Baptist Church Hires What They Knew Was a Convicted Child Rapist to Be Preacher (he is married and a father too) – the pervert then raped boys at the church, church then blamed boys for being raped

Baptist Church Hires What They Knew Was a Convicted Child Rapist to Be Preacher (he is married and a father too) – the pervert then raped boys at the church, church then blamed boys for being raped

Links to the news story about the Baptist church that knew their preacher was raping boys are farther below.

Please, Christians, explain why Christian single women should only marry Christian men, when so many of these stories keep turning up in the news of Christian men who are arrested for raping people, or for other crimes?

The first link also says this perverted child rapist (the Baptist preacher) was married with a kid of his own!

Marriage and parenting, contrary to Christian stereotypes, do NOT make a person more godly, loving, or responsible.

After having just read the second, highly detailed report of just how bad this sexual abuse was, and how the church (including the perverted preacher’s wife) tried to cover up this abuse (and then blamed the rape victims, little boys, for having been raped!!), I am even more disgusted now that some Christians teach the Christian marriage stereotypes (ones that disparages the unmarried, as to suggest one has to be “godly” before God will send them a spouse, so if one remains single, it must be because one is a horrible person).

Oh yes, some married Christians do in fact teach marriage stereotypes that are ‘anti-singles’ in nature (for examples of that, see the personal testimonies by adult Christian singles on this previous thread, of comments they received from married Christians, or from preachers, which suggest that they remain single because
a.) one has to somehow ‘earn’ or ‘merit’ a spouse by God (by being good or whatever), so obviously, they must not be good or godly enough for a spouse,
or,
b) it is suggested to adult singles from married Christians that they must still be single due to punishment from God, over some lack in character, or some flaw, or sin in their life, and that is why they don’t have a spouse.

I am a never-married woman, but I have NEVER raped or harmed a child in any way, and I would never sit back and do nothing if I knew abuse was going on.

It is very galling to me as a decent person (who happens to be unmarried) when I am told by Christian culture that the reason God has withheld a spouse from me must be due to some sin in my life, or God is trying to straighten out my character, or some such rot.

Oh really? I do not rape children, but the idiot married preacher guy in this story RAPES LITTLE BOYS, and the people at his church, according to these reports KNEW about it and did nothing.

Tell me how God can allow a child rapist to marry, but not a decent person such as myself?

How is the “character” of a child rapist Baptist preacher, who exploited his position as a preacher to boot, “more godly,” or superior, or more developed, than mine, that of a never-married woman who never raped kids, never had sex, never abused drugs, did well in school, and who tried to help other people when and where she could? I’ve never been arrested, committed a crime, or fired from a job.

I’m an Average Smoe who’s never committed an especially heinous sin in my life. But some married Christians assume the reason I have never married must be that God is punishing me for some great sin I’ve done or that I must have some huge, glaring personal flaw that God thinks should prohibit me from marrying. But this child rapist Baptist preacher was married and a father (the article says he has an infant daughter).

Christians need to really re-examine their core assumptions about who gets married and why, as well as the tired notion or assumption that “God only rewards spouses to people who have godly, clean lives, to people who are deserving”.

From Link 1, Warren church accused of allowing pastor, principal to rape boy

    By Jameson Cook

Officials of a Warren church and religious school should have stopped obvious “grooming” of a teenage boy whom the church’s pastor later raped. A lawsuit also claims the pastor never should have been hired because the church knew about his pedophilic tendencies.

In a civil action replete with disturbing accusations, the unidentified boy says employees and officials of Antioch Baptist Church and Academy failed mightily to detect and prevent the actions of convicted rapist Christopher Settlemoir.

“The rape of a minor child occurred dozens of times while the staff turned to the blind eye crime (sic) being perpetrated against a child within their care,” says the lawsuit filed Friday by “John Doe” in Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens. “(Antioch) had a duty to self-report to Child Protective Services and/or law enforcement that plaintiff… was at risk of and actually was being sexually abused.”

Settlemoir in 2011 pleaded no contest each to two counts each of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree criminal sexual conduct and accosting a child for immoral purposes for assaults that police said lasted more than a year ending in June 2010. He also was accused of sending explicit text messages to a second boy.

The 29-year-old former Warren resident, who was married and had an infant daughter, is serving a seven- to 15-year prison term.

The lawsuit alleges that officials should have been aware of Settlemoir grooming the teen, who was being raised by a single mother whose father “was not an active part of his life.” Settlemoir “vetted, targeted, identified, befriended and then molested” the victim, the lawsuit says.

From Link 2, Church Blamed the Pastor’s Victim, Boy Says

    By KEVIN KOENINGER

Mt. CLEMENS, Mich. (CN) – After a pastor at Antioch Baptist Academy repeatedly raped a student, the church called the boy a liar and the “instigator of his own rape,” the boy claims in court.

John Doe claims he was younger than 14 when he was repeatedly raped and sodomized in 2009-10 by defendant Christopher Settlemoir, a “29-year-old serial pedophile who was posing as a man of God, a church pastor and a parochial school principal of the defendant Antioch Baptist Church dba Antioch Baptist Academy.”

Doe also sued Settlemoir’s wife, who is or was a teacher at the academy, other employees and the 10 members of the church’s board of directors, who allegedly knew about Settlemoir’s molestations but failed to stop them.

According to the complaint in Macomb County Court: “Defendant Antioch hired the pedophile Christopher Settlemoir as a teacher, pastor and principal even though defendant Settlemoir, while still in college, began showing signs of sexual perversion by racking up $100 in gay porn charges on the cable at the apartment where he was staying as part of the pastor internship program.

“Defendant Settlemoir was eventually kicked out of the internship program for not adhering to the rules, which included bringing teen-age boys to his apartment and being along with the boys for ‘Movie Night.'”

When he finally did report the rapes, Doe says, the church “lashed out” at him:
“After John Doe and his mother came forward and reported to police that Christopher Settlemoir was molesting and raping him, defendants, through their employees and agents, lashed out at John Doe, disparaging him, his mother and his father, through accusations against John Doe. After being raped by Christopher Settlemoir, John Doe was publicly accused by the defendants’ staff of being a liar and the instigator of his own rape, by the very people who failed to protect him from the pedophile defendant Christopher Settlemoir,” the complaint states.

Doe claims that Eunice Settlemoir, the pastor’s wife, “attempted to conceal and later recruited other members of the defendant Antioch to destroy a laptop belonging to her husband to prevent police from obtaining evidence of the molestation and rape of John Doe.”

With each passing story I come across in the news of self-professing Christian males who get arrested, or caught, having affairs, using porn, visiting prostitutes, or raping kids, I feel more and more fine and validated for my choice to start dating Non Christian men.

Remember examples like this when you hear or read preachers such as Mark Driscoll instruct you to hold out for only a Christian man to marry (see (Links): this, this, and this).

One article says that the girls this man molested for years were daughters of his son’s girlfriend, so this pervert is a FATHER (parenthood does not make a man more godly, ethical, mature, or loving) and was probably married.

A 61-year-old Minnesota pastor accused of raping a pair of young girls for years was charged last week, and now a warrant is out for his arrest. Jacoby Kindred of the One Accord Ministries allegedly told the girls, now teenagers, that the “devil was inside them” and claimed to remove the demons via sexual assault.

Kindred’s predicament began back in July when the mother of the accusers, both 14 and 16 now, discovered a letter from the younger girl that detailed the acts between she and Kindred.

In a separate hospital visit, the older girl told a nurse that Kindred assaulted her on several occasions. Kindred, via a phone call with the Pioneer Press paper, denied all charges in a clumsy fashion.

A Maplewood pastor has been charged with raping two young girls for years, beginning when they were about 6.

The girls’ mother reported alleged abuse by Jacoby Kindred to police in July, when the girls, now 14 and 16, disclosed it, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Ramsey County District Court.

Kindred, 61, denied any inappropriate behavior and told police that the girls’ mother must have put them up to it. He made a reference to Minnesota being a “ladies’ state,” and said, “You weren’t there, nobody was there!” the complaint said.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. As of midday Thursday, there was a warrant out for his arrest.

Kindred told police he was a pastor with One Accord Ministries. He refers to himself on his Facebook page as “Jacoby Preacherman.” He declined to describe the church for a reporter but told police it does not have a building.

Senior Pastor Accused of Covering Up Youth Pastor Son’s Sexual Abuse Crime

It’s stories like this that make me realize the “be not yoked” teaching is a lot of nonsense. Christian men are just as apt to be perverted as Non Christians.

Oh: and Fatherhood does not make a man more godly, mature, or loving. Here you have a father, who works as a preacher no less, covering up sex abuse crimes.

I guess, contra to Christian propaganda, that families are not the “backbone of culture,” since we have families raping teen girls and then covering up the rapes.

Boulder police have accused a Colorado senior pastor of covering up information about a youth pastor who allegedly sexually assaulted a female church attendee starting when she was 15.

Walt Roberson was out of the country when police first announced charges for four members of Vinelife Church’s pastoral and elder teams. Jason Allen Roberson, 35, Vinelife Church’s youth pastor and the son of Walt, was arrested in September on charges that he sexually abused a former church member and emplyoyee who was underage when the abuse began.

Marriage Does Not Make People More Loving Mature Godly Ethical Caring or Responsible (One Stop Thread)

The following are links to many (but not all) posts on this blog about news reports about sins and crimes committed by MARRIED people.

Not only do these news reports dispell the Christian myth that married people are more godly, mature, responsible, or sexually pure than singles, but…

These links also demonstrate that married sex is not as great Christians say it is, which they say to entice kids into staying virgins until marriage.

If married sex were as wonderful as Christians claim, we would not see all these reports of married Christian men (or women) using porn, having affairs, or hiring prostitutes.

Some of these married people featured in the news reports below might also be PARENTS and CHRISTIAN.

Famous Christian, Preacher, Alleged Adulterer Wistfully Wishes that Young People Today Could See the Beauty and Integrity of Marriage – oh the LULZ!

Did you know that chastity is not for un-married people only?

As shocking as this may be to some of you, the Bible says God still demands that married people practice sexual purity. Being married does not give one a license to start getting nooky anywhere and everywhere, but a lot of married Christians seem to think that chastity and sexual purity is for singles only.

I watched James Bakker’s (Jim Baker) show today. He is a Christian guy who used to be a preacher and had a big TV show back in the 1980s.

Preacher David Jeremiah was Bakker’s guest today, and as they were talking about Jeremiah’s coverage of the Song of Songs in his new study Bible, James Bakker made some comments about marriage.

Bakker lamented that young people today don’t esteem marriage enough.

This is coming from a guy who apparently, according to some news sources, got caught having an affair on his wife back in the 1980s, and it was quite the scandal, all over the news at the time.

I find it terribly funny that a guy who may have had an affair on his wife is saying how awful it is that today’s youth don’t see the “beauty and integrity” in marriage. LOL! 😆

You know, I think one reason of many I still remain single at my age, despite wanting marriage, is that I take marriage a hella lot more seriously than married people do. Isn’t it ironic?

From (Link): the Wiki page on Bakker:

A sex scandal led to his resignation from the ministry. Subsequent revelations of accounting fraud brought about his imprisonment and divorce. He later remarried and returned to televangelism.

…A $279,000 payoff for the silence of Jessica Hahn, a staff secretary at the church, was paid with PTL’s funds to Hahn through Bakker associate Roe Messner, who later married Tammy Fay Bakker.[6]

Bakker, who apparently made all of the financial decisions for the PTL organization, allegedly kept two sets of books to conceal the accounting irregularities.

Reporters from The Charlotte Observer, led by Charles Shepard, investigated and published a series of articles regarding the PTL organization’s finances.[7]

On March 19, 1987, following the revelation of a payoff to Hahn to keep secret her allegation that Bakker and another minister had raped her, Bakker resigned from PTL.[6]

Bakker acknowledges he met Hahn at a hotel room in Clearwater, Florida, but denies raping her.

Jim and Tammy Bakker were divorced on March 13, 1992. On November 16, 1992, a sentence reduction hearing was held and Bakker’s sentence was reduced to eight years.[4]:104

Permissiveness, Cheap Grace, and Easy Forgivism Run Amok in Christianity – Dallas Preacher Todd Wagner Says Christians Can Use Heroin (parallel to topic of sex, celibacy) / Why some Christians turn agnostic

Permissiveness, Cheap Grace, and Easy Forgivism Run Amok in Christianity – Dallas Preacher Todd Wagner Says Christians Can Use Heroin / Why some Christians turn agnostic

Christian radio host Janet Mefferd recently discussed a preacher of a Dallas mega-church named Todd Wagner who said it’s okay for Christians to use heroin, or he pretty much said so.

Wagner was answering in response to a question from a viewer who wanted to know if it’s okay for Christians to drink alcohol.

You can listen to that Mefferd show here:
(Link): Janet Mefferd Show-11/20/2013

Before I get to the specific Wagner story:

Mefferd mentions a story about a preacher being arrested for drug dealing. This story:
(Link): Former Pastor Arrested In Record-Breaking Ky. Pill Bust

    Reported by Kallie Cart
    Reported: Nov. 15, 2013 12:10 PM EST

A former pastor has been arrested in a major drug trafficking bust in Kentucky.

Members of the fade drug task force in Kentucky said Scott Gilliam, the pastor of Perry’s Branch Holiness Tabernacle in Olive Hill, was using his former church as part of a major drug enterprise.

Mefferd also mentions this story:
(Link): Local (Florida) pastor arrested for drugs

Mefferd also mentioned this next story. This preacher thinks selling drugs is okay, as long as you also do charity work in your spare time, and hand out free drug samples to junkies so they will consider converting to Christianity:

(Link): Arizona pastor busted for dealing heroin and meth did it for ‘spiritual purposes’

-Pastor Mark Derksen told police his drugs brought users ‘closer to God’
-Derksen often gave free samples to convert new believers

Back to the “heroin is just peachy” preacher, Wagner.

Mefferd has audio clips of the guy, Wagner, (Link): on her site mentioning that heroin use is just peachy.

Wagner’s church also has a video channel on You Tube that you can check out here:
(Link): Watermark Church channel

After a glance over their You Tube channel, I am not seeing any video about the alcohol and heroin comments that Mefferd references.

Mefferd said she got her audio clips from a Wagner podcast.

Wagner’s podcast can be accessed here:
(Link): Wagner Podcast (on i Tunes)
(Link): Is it Wrong for Christians to Drink Alcohol?? – by Wagner (on podbay)

You can also read Wagner’s blog about the alcohol question, but the response about alcohol apparently was taken from “got questions.com” site and does not appear to contain the heroin remark:

(Link): Can a Christian Drink Alcohol? – Words from Wags

Here I thought “Christian Pundit” (name of my blog) was pretty lame or dull, but “Words from Wags” has me beat on the lame-o-meter.

Here are some excerpts from Can a Christian Drink Alcohol? – Words from Wags, which seems to be quoting a site called “got questions”:

    [quoting Got Questions]

… However, Scripture does not necessarily forbid a Christian from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol.

… What God commands Christians regarding alcohol is to avoid drunkenness (Ephesians 5:18).

The Bible condemns drunkenness and its effects (Proverbs 23:29-35).

Christians are also commanded to not allow their bodies to be “mastered” by anything (1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19). Drinking alcohol in excess is undeniably addictive.

Scripture also forbids a Christian from doing anything that might offend other Christians or encourage them to sin against their conscience (1 Corinthians 8:9-13).

In light of these principles, it would be extremely difficult for any Christian to say he is drinking alcohol in excess to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

More excerpts from Can a Christian Drink Alcohol? – Words from Wags, and these appear to be written by Wagner himself or another staffer:

Am I/Will I be mastered by this activity. Specifically, is this now, or could this become, a coping strategy or idol or addiction that takes the place of God in my life? (1 Corinthians 6:12)

    Is it profitable/beneficial (1 Corinthians 6:12)?

Will it cause the/my ministry to be discredited in any way? (2 Corinthians 6:1-3)

Could it cause other believers to stumble/be confused if they saw me engaging in this activity (1 Corinthians 8:9-13)?

Does it help me to make disciples/advance the Gospel (Matthew 28:19-20)?

Am I living under a yoke of legalism that doesn’t honor the Gospel? Am I limiting my freedom in Christ for any reason other than my love for Him or my concern for others (Galatians 5:1)?

I don’t see any mention of heroin in skimming that page over, but Wagner does mention heroin in the audio clip provided by Mefferd at the link at the top of this page.

You’ll notice in the responses above that a lot of those arguments could apply to sexual morality, too.

Regarding these quotes:

Christians are also commanded to not allow their bodies to be “mastered” by anything (1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19).

Am I/Will I be mastered by this activity. Specifically, is this now, or could this become, a coping strategy or idol or addiction that takes the place of God in my life? (1 Corinthians 6:12)

For example, I have been saying all along that every human being, but Christians especially, have self-control over sex: they do not have to give in to a sexual urge.

The Bible never says that chastity or celibacy are only “gifted to a few by God.”

The Bible actually makes sexual purity a commandment for all Christians, yet most Christians today act as though celibacy, singleness, and virginity, are the perview of only a tiny minority of believers, and at that, ones who God chose in eternity past to be single and chaste.

The Bible never says God calls, or gifts, or chooses anyone to be single; that is a matter God leaves up to the individual to decide for him or herself.

A few negative results of teaching the opposite belief in these areas is we have preachers, Christian book authors, and bloggers who teach and repeat erroneous notions such as…

    1. marry early because no person is capable of sexually abstaining past one’s early or mid 20s;

    2. men, even Christian males, are sex-obsessed, dangerous raping sex fiends, so women should never be left alone with men (this hampers women being able to form platonic friendships, as well as getting married);

    3. the Christian un-married are barred from working as teachers, leaders, and preachers and other positions of responsibility or authority within Christian circles on the assumption they cannot control their sexual urges and will make passes at any persons under their charge;

    4. gender stereotyping, such as:
    only men want sex and only men are visually stimulated;
women are emotionally led only in relationships and should be pretty and thin all the time, to appeal to the visually oriented males (this leads to allowing men to feel they can be sloppy- looking, and some females develop eating disorders, poor self esteem, etc)

The negative impacts of Christians teaching and supporting the view that “believers are gifted by God with celibacy / singlehood, and only some are called/gifted in this way” is one reason I encourage all singles to stop endorsing it. If you are an unmarried person using that rhetoric, you are causing more harm to your side.

While the Bible makes clear that God respects singleness and celibacy (and married Christians need to be reminded of this), it does not say God “gifts it” to individuals, that God chooses who will be single.

I know on this blog, I ordinarily discuss Christian views on marriage, dating, sex, and so on, but these comments about this Dallas preacher who talks about heroin are related, if you stop and think about it.

I am not a supporter of legalism. I want to make that clear.

On the other hand, I’m not a fan of this permissiveness and easy-forgivism, anything goes flavor of Christianity, I am seeing from preachers and Christians today.

Churches Idolize Youth But Do Nothing to Protect Them

Churches Idolize Youth But Do Nothing to Protect Them

I have written about this before, but today, I wanted to note another side of the problem.

First here’s a recap.

Evangelical and seeker friendly and some Baptist churches, work their asses off to attract youth. Specifically, young married couples who have children under the age of 18, as well as young college kids.

I’ve no idea if it’s because churches perceive these age groups as being more hip and trendy, and they want their church to have a hip and cool vibe, or, if these families with kids have more money.

But, the fact remains, that as long as you are below the age of 25, churches go out of their way to cater to you and meet all your needs. If you’re unsaved, man, do they ever push hard to cajole you and kiss your behind and try to get you saved.

Once you hit your late 20s or early 30s, if you are not married with a kid of your own, that same church that worked its collective ass off to cater to your every whim and kiss your tukus, stops giving a flying crap about you.

I don’t know why churches and Christian culture works so effing hard at getting new converts to Christ only to drop them like hot potatoes once they reach a certain age.

Along with that, is this odd habit of Christians to worry endlessly about youth, to take an excessive interest in youth and wnning them to christ and getting them to attend church, but, once the young uns start going to church X, if they are molested by a staffer or Joe Blow at church X, then said preacher of church X tries to sweep the whole affair under the carpet.

I am not going to sit here and give links verifying all this. You can get off your lazy ass and use Google yourself.

Based on the many, many blogs and forums I have visited the last two years pertaining to spiritual abuse, leaving the Christian faith, and domestic/child abuse, by people who were exploited financially, raped by preachers, or abused in some other manner, many churches do not do anything to help child victims.

Some preachers blame the child victims for being molested or raped, by suggesting that they asked to be violated, that they are at fault…

Yes, I’ve seen accounts of church elders, church goers, or preachers suggesting that three year old females can be “sexually suggestive” to adult men and entice those men to fondle them – thus blaming the victim and sympathizing with the molestor.

I can rattle off horror stories I’ve seen the past two years on various blogs that cover instances of preachers, youth ministers, and other church people, who rape children, and these churches, to compound the issue, rally around the abusers but blame the victims. They will not phone civil authorities (ie, the cops).

How is it that we are living in a Christian culture that worships youth, chases after youth, dreams up countless ways to attract youth to church services, ignores anyone not married over the age of 25/30, gears all church services towards appealing to what they think youth want (electric guitars on stage, etc), but then, turns around and abandons that youth when they are fondled, exploited, or raped by preachers, church worship leaders, etc?

Churches today, in particular seeker friendly, evangelical, and mega churches, worship youth but then do nothing to protect them, and even blames them for being exploited by adults?

There is a very troubling set of double standards going on by preachers and other Christians today – they badly, badly want youth at their church (and claim to want to reach youth for Christ), but the moment the youth gets harmed by a church person, the preacher blames the youth and rallies support around the abuser.

Guy Who Works as Principal and Baptist Preacher Accused of Sex Acts With Students While In the School Building

Guy Who Works as Principal and Baptist Preacher Accused of Sex Acts With Students While In the School Building

One article I saw about this guy says he moonlights as a church preacher (or used to work as one).

But Christians (based on only one or two brief verses, such as “be not yoked to an unbeliever,” or “let her only remarry another believer”) keep unnecessarily limiting Christian single women to only seek out Christian men to marry, which in turn makes it next to impossible for many Christian single females to ever marry.

Why, why do Christians do this to single Christians? Any number of atheist or agnostic men would be better to marry than this child-raping, Christian, Baptist preacher sicko mentioned in the news story below.

I am really, really not seeing a solid rationale for any Christian woman (or borderline agnostic – Christian like me) to keep waiting for a Christian single guy to appear, to marry one, when so many Christian males turn out to be child- raping rats or wife- abusing scum.

Certainly not all Christian men are that way, but there seems to be a high enough percentage that it makes marrying a self professing believer a total crap shoot. You don’t know if the guy you are marrying is stand up, or a jerk who rapes kids, or will abuse you.

I’ve not been able to ascertain if the guy in the story is married or not, but I bet you anything he IS married, which would only serves as one more example against the stupid, moronic, Christian bias that married people are supposedly more godly and mature than unmarried people are.

Beware of HIV / AIDS Infected Christian Male Preachers On Dating Sites

I put this story in my last post but felt it deserved a stand-alone post of its own.

Note also that the first story says he had sex with a MARRIED woman.

See, Christians like to portray un-married Christian ladies as being little vixens who sleep around, who especially like to bed married guys and/or preachers.

Here we single ladies are NOT screwing around, and NOT bedding preachers and married men, but the -Christian- married ladies are boinking these guys like they are rabbits. So how come married Christian ladies don’t get the vixen stereotype, why does it only get applied to the single women?

    By Ruth Manuel-Logan

Memphis minister Rodney Carr (pictured), who was arrested last year and charged with criminal exposure to HIV for knowingly infecting a woman, was recently spotted on a popular Black dating website, BlackPeopleMeet, looking to hook up with a potential mate, reports WREG Memphis.

Carr, who reportedly tested positive in 2005 for HIV, allegedly infected a married woman whom he reportedly dated in 2010 and 2011; her identity has not been revealed.

On a routine gynecological visit, the woman’s physician reportedly suggested an HIV test. When she reportedly received her results, she knew Carr had infected her.

According to the woman, the 47-year-old preacher never told her he was HIV positive. The woman claims she trusted Carr, because he is a minister.

On the dating website, Carr has two profiles: one under his name and another where he is listed as “Minterwonderful.” When the unnamed victim was told about Carr’s online profiles, she told WREG, “He’s not wonderful. He’s a creep. Going around doing what he’s doing. He’s not wonderful at all.”

A Memphis minister is accused of spreading more than the gospel.

One woman is accusing him of infecting her with HIV, and she doesn’t believe she’s the only victim.

“The reason I’m going to court and trying to get other women to come forward with this is because they need to know,” said the victim.
We agreed to conceal the woman’s identity. You’ll only see her shadow.

What she wants you to do is hear her voice.

It is her warning to other women.

“I went to the doctor for a check up and they asked if you want to be HIV tested and I said sure why not. 2010, that’s when I found out,” she said.

She found out she was HIV positive and is fighting to bring the man she believes knowingly infected her to justice.

She claims a Memphis preacher, Minister Rodney Carr, is spreading the virus that leads to AIDS.

He’s now charged with Criminal Exposure to HIV.

Married Baptist Preacher with Daughter Charged With Murdering Three People in Pawn Shop – Tell Me Again Why Single Christian Women Should Only Consider Marrying Christian Guys? And How Parenting and Marriage Makes a Person More Godly and Mature??

This preacher is married, according to (Link): this source.

He worked as a Baptist preacher.

There are photos of him on most of these news reports: they say he’s only 48 years old, but he looks like he’s a very old 68. He’s fat and ugly, too.

And Christians keep insisting, all based on a tiny verse that says “be not yoked to an unbeliever,” that Christian women should only marry Christians.

Why the holy hell should un-married Christian women (who already out number single Christian males) bother with holding out for professing Christian mates, when these disgusting pigs turn out to be killers, child rapists, and drug addicts?

I wanted to get married, but remain single into my 40s because Christians taught me from the time I was a kid and teenager that Christians should only marry other believers, and that if I waited and had faith, and if I just wanted marriage badly enough, that God would send me a Christian spouse.

Well, that did not happen.

I am more and more convinced with each passing year of life that you have to base your judgement of a man based on his actions and character, and not whether he professes Christ or attends a church or works as a pastor.

Keith, 48, of Burnside has been charged with three counts of murder and one count of first-degree robbery. Arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 16 in Boyle District Court.

Eugene Hollis, Keith’s former business partner in a Somerset pawn shop and in the Danville shop ultimately sold to Hockensmith, said he had known Keith for almost 30 years. Keith has been involved in ministry throughout that time, Hollis said.

Keith was youth minister at Main Street Baptist in Burnside for a period, then went to a church in Lancaster for several years before returning to Main Street as pastor about six years ago, Hollis said.

Keith is married with a young daughter, said Hollis, who lives in Somerset.

Hollis said he does not believe Keith committed the murders. Keith’s life has been focused on his ministry and his family, Hollis said, and he said he does not believe Keith would do anything to jeopardize either.

“It’s extremely out of character for him. He’s not a violent person,” Hollis said.

Hollis’ wife, Delois, said Keith is “a loving, caring husband, father, minister.”

Pro Ball Player Convicted for Kid Diddling Three Kids Claims to be an Outstanding Christian (and he’s married with a kid of his own) – again, why should Christian single gals limit themselves to only marrying Christian men? The Whole “Being Yoked Equally” thing is irrelevant and unduly limiting for singles

I was told my whole life by Christians it would be wrong for me to marry a Non-Christian because the Bible has one sentence that says “do not be yoked to an unbeliever.”

I ran into a few decent Non-Christian guys growing up, but no, couldn’t get into a romantic relationship with them or marry them, because according to Christian folklore, if I just kept “trusting in the Lord” and praying about my marital future, in due time God would send me a Christian Prince Charming.

I find myself still never-married in my early 40s.

There is no, there was no, Christian Prince Charming that was my reward for staying a virgin, for being a good Christian girl who prayed, had faith, and waited on “God’s timing” or for “God’s Best.”

Meanwhile, as a single, other singles and myself go ignored by the Christian community, when they are not harboring insulting stereotypes about older singles (such as all unmarried women are harlots that will steal married men).

Supposedly, the unmarried are not as godly, sexually pure and loving as married people with children.

Then we come across stories such as this by a guy who says he is a swell Christian – and I’m not sure, but I think he might be married with children of his own?

I cannot believe Christians expected me to hinge my entire marital relationship destiny on one measly biblical verse that contains the phrase “be not yoked to an unbeliever,” and upon reflection, I wonder what in the hell does that verse even mean?

Maybe Apostle Paul was only talking about tennis partners, for all we know.

The end result of holding that verse up as the end- all, be- all of marriage advice is tragic, though: lots of single Christian ladies like me who wanted marriage are single into our 40s.

I cannot believe a perverted guy like this gets a spouse while decent people such as myself, despite wanting to be married, can’t so much get a date for Friday night.

Oh yes, this story also works against another secular and Christian stereotype: that older, never-married men are sexual predators. Here we have a story about a MARRIED man who is a FATHER who was convicted of child sexual abuse.

Curtis claims he’s “living faith every day” — and thinks he and his victim could write a book together

    BY MARY ELIZABETH WILLIAMS

Former major league outfielder Chad Curtis says he tries to “live my faith every day.” Chad Curtis is a recently convicted sex offender.

On Thursday in Hastings, Mich., the 44-year-old was sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison on six counts of second-, third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The victims were three teenage girls he knew during his time as a high school volunteer weight-room strength trainer two years ago. When he was initially suspended from his position last year, he told reporters, “I’d ask [the community] to pray for us and pray that this would be resolved in a way that is honoring to God.”

Now, in a courtroom statement the prosecution called “an arrogant, self-serving hour-long soliloquy,” Curtis, who played for the Yankees in two winning World Series, steadfastly maintained that his victims were liars, saying, “The truth will set her free. I think this whole thing is an unfortunate situation where the whole truth has not been told. I believe her [the victim] and I could write a book someday and it would have a positive impact on a whole lot of people.” It’s a horrible, desperately insensitive thing to say, but it’s an illuminating window into the mind of a convicted sex offender – one who still bafflingly seeks connection with his accuser.

The girls all tell similar tales — of Curtis groping them under the guise of giving them athletic massages. In her account of his actions, one of his teenage victims said that he’d “he exposed her breast, covered it with his mouth and simultaneously groped her crotch.”

When she began crying, she says he swore that “he would never again succumb to his immoral impulses” and asked her to pray with him.

She says that when she refused he told her, “Prayer is always good.” According to Michigan Live, it was the same scenario with the other two victims: “Each would hear an apology. Each would receive a promise that it would not happen again.” Yet if he expressed contrition during his encounters with the victims, there was none of the kind on display during his trial or sentencing.

Judge calls the former Yankees team member a predator during sentencing

New York Yankees’ ex-outfielder Chad Curtis was sentenced Thursday to seven to 15 years in prison for sexual abuse by a Michigan circuit judge who called him a predator and a community threat.

Curtis, whose career spans from 1992 to 2001 and includes two World Series wins with the New York Yankees, was convicted of six counts of criminal sexual conduct in August. During a stint volunteering as a weight trainer at a Barry County high school, the ex-MLB star inappropriately touched three teenage girls.

Two 15-year-olds said he touched their buttocks while a 16-year-old girl said he touched and kissed her breasts. The 44-year-old told the court Thursday that the three girls lied, while calling himself a Christian servant.

HASTINGS, MI – As Chad Curtis delivered what a prosecutor called an arrogant, self-serving hour-long soliloquy, the three teen victims of his sexual crimes could take no more and walked out of the courtroom.

But they returned in time to hear Barry County Circuit Court Judge Amy McDowell sentence the former major leaguer and school athletic mentor to seven to 15 years in prison for his sexual assault of three girls at Lakewood High School.

“I feel like I’ve got to a point now where I have done all I can do and I can move on with my life,” said the 18-year-old, who was the victim of Curtis’ crimes in 2011 when he committed third-degree criminal sexual conduct against the then-high school senior. The crime involves sexual penetration.

… For his part, Curtis talked for an hour and accused all the victims of lying during the week-long trial in August, during which Curtis was found guilty of six counts of criminal sexual conduct.

Curtis talked of how he was playing for the Detroit Tigers, one of six teams he would play for in a 10-year career ending 2001, when he decided he wanted to become a servant of God.

Curtis talked at length about all the students he helped by getting his teaching certificate at Cornerstone University. He talked about the people he brought to Christ through his example and the lives he helped turn around even as he waited sentencing in the Barry County Jail.

“I wake up every morning and ask, ‘How can I be a positive influence in this little cell?” Curtis told the judge. “I live my faith every day.”

Curtis took exception to being called selfish by the victims and their parents, and he seemed intent on making sure the judge knew that he was not selfish.

Curtis also said he was the one rebuffing advances from the girls, who accused him of getting them alone in the school weight room and then molesting them under the guise of athletic conditioning.

He said the girls will have to come to terms with their wrong-doing.

“The truth will set her free,” he said of one of his victims.

“I think this whole thing is an unfortunate situation where the whole truth has not been told, Curtis said. “I believe her (the victim) and I could write a book someday and it would have a positive impact on a whole lot of people.”

Barry County Prosecutor Julie Nakfoor Pratt said Curtis’ statement showed an utter lack of remorse and showed that he needed to be put in prison.

“That was the most selfish, self-serving, victim-blaming statement I’ve heard in my career as a prosecutor,” Pratt said. “It speaks volumes about his character, or lack thereof.”

Following the sentence hearing, defense attorney David Dodge gathered with supporters of his client, including Curtis’ wife and daughter, as they met in a circle and prayed in the courthouse parking lot.

Married Christian Rock Singer in Legal Trouble for Hiring Hit Man To Kill His Wife

So much for the Christian fable that marriage makes a person immune from sexual temptation!

One source says he used to claim to be a Christian, but eleven months ago shared with his fans online that he is having doubts about the Christian faith.

Hey, me too! But I don’t go around hiring hit men to whack people.

One news page says he and his wife have three children together (adopted). So fatherhood, contrary to conservative Christian mythology, does not make a man a better person than a childless or childfree man.

So, here is another example of a married Christian guy, who is also a father, is being a no good rat. Often, conservative Christians assume or teach that un-married (Christian) adults are not as responsible and ethical as their married counterparts.

I am never-married, but, I’ve never been a drug addict, and I’ve never murdered anyone, nor have I ever hired a hit man to get someone bumped off. But supposedly by mere fact I am single, many Christians would assume I’m not as godly or kind-hearted as married people.

(Link): Steroids Found in Christian Metal Singer Tim Lambesis’ Home: Detective

The singer of the Grammy-nominated Christian metal band “As I Lay Dying” was arrested on May 7 in Oceanside

San Diego officials investigating an alleged murder-for-hire plot involving Christian metal singer Tim Lambesis found dozens of vials of what appeared to be steroids and thousands of dollars in cash in the musician’s bedroom, a detective testified Monday.

Homicide investigators found a lock box in Lambesis’ Carlsbad home containing “a lot of different quantities” of male enhancement-type drugs, male libido-type drugs and estrogen blocking drugs, Det. John Buckley with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department testified.
There were approximately 30 to 40 vials along with different types of pill packages with more than $12,000 in cash, the detective said.

The steroids were found after the singer of the Grammy-nominated Christian metal band “As I Lay Dying” was arrested on charges of solicitation of another to commit murder and conspiracy to commit a crime on May 7.

Prosecutors allege that Lambesis approached a trainer from his gym on Apr. 23 and asked if the person knew anyone who could kill his wife, Meggan Lambesis of Del Mar.

“He wanted to know if maybe I could find someone to do it for him,” personal trainer Brett Kimball testified in court Monday.

Metalcore frontman faces maximum nine years in prison after sting operation exposes ‘plot to kill ex-wife’

    theguardian.com, Tuesday 17 September 2013 10.08 EDT

The frontman of Christian metalcore band As I Lay Dying will stand trial on the charge of trying to hire an assassin to kill his ex-wife. Timothy Lambesis allegedly told an undercover policeman he wanted Meggan Lambesis “gone”, agreeing to pay $20,000 (£12,500).

Timothy was arrested in May, following a meeting in a bookshop with a man calling himself “Red”. “Just to clarify, just so you know, I do want her dead,” Lambesis reportedly said. He is said to have then handed Red a manila envelope with Meggan’s name and photo, the security code for her flat, a description of her vehicle and three proposed dates for the slaying. He also included an initial $1,000 deposit.

Unfortunately for Lambesis, Red is better known as county sheriff’s officer Howard Bradley. The sting was arranged after authorities had been alerted to the musician’s alleged plot by a trainer at his gym, whom Lambesis had asked for help.

… Lambesis founded As I Lay Dying in 2000, fronting the band through all of its six albums. Their last three LPs reached the Billboard top 15, and the group played the UK’s Download festival in 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2012.

Prosecutors claim Lambesis provided the undercover agent with an envelope containing $1,000 cash for expenses, his wife’s address and gate codes, pictures of her and specific dates when he would have the children and thus, an alibi.

Deputy Howard Bradley described the meeting in which Lambesis handed him a manila envelope containing 10 $100 bills during a preliminary hearing Monday in San Diego Superior Court in Vista.

“He told me he wanted his wife gone,” Bradley testified.

He went on to explain how Lambesis immediately agreed to the $20,000 fee and said he had already withdrawn the money from his bank account.

Lambesis explained he wanted his wife dead because she was going to get up to 60-percent of his income and would not allow their children – ages 4, 8, and 10 – to go on tour with him, the deputy testified.

Court documents reveal Meggan Lambesis had filed for divorce in September 2012 to end the couple’s 8-year marriage.

In the divorce records obtained by the Associated Press, Meggan Lambesis claims the rocker had become “obsessed with bodybuilding” and was distracted with the children, even falling asleep once while watching them. She also claimed he has spent thousands of dollars on tattoos.

Pervy (Married?) Preacher Jailed For Raping Congregants

I am still googling around, trying to determine if this sicko is married or not. So far I do not see a mention of a wife.

If this does not fit my “Christian married men are not saints as married Christians claim they are” theme on the blog, it most certainly fits my “I might as well marry an atheist, since Christian men are no better” theme.

(Link): Norwalk pastor violated 20-plus women using ‘healing hands,’ cops say

By Richard Winton and Ruben Vives
        September 19, 2013, 11:19 a.m.

An associate pastor at a church in Norwalk arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting more than 20 female parishioners allegedly told his victims the sex acts were a necessary part of using “healing hands.”

Jorge Juan Castro, 53, was arrested last Friday on allegations that during his eight years as associate pastor at Las Buenas Nuevas Church in Norwalk, he repeatedly sexually assaulted at least 20 parishioners. He told the alleged victims who questioned the sex acts that they were part of the faith-healing process, said L.A. County Sheriff’s Capt. Robert Esson.

“He claimed to have healing hands and ulitized that process to eventually sexually assault them,” Esson said. “He preyed upon them from a trust position. He warned them they’d be the subject of ridicule in the church if they told others.”

Castro also allegedly threatened to have the women — who ranged in age from 18 to 39 — deported if they spoke out, Esson added.

Esson said the alleged crimes stretch from October 2004 to September 2012.

… After surveillance by undercover major-crimes detectives, Castro was arrested Sept. 13 at his home in Norwalk and booked on charges of rape, penetration by a foreign object and oral copulation. He is already charged with six felony counts, but that number is expected to rise.

…Castro came to the United States from Argentina in 2004. Soon after, the alleged sex crimes began, Esson said.

Authorities in Riverside County are now also investigating his term at a church in Moreno Valley, which has been alerted, Esson said.

“He has a large number of victims and we suspect there are more.
