Married Preacher Who Had Extra Marital Affair, Divorce Commits Suicide / Grieving Preacher Whose Wife Died Commits Suicide

Married Preacher Who Had Extra Marital Affair, Divorce Commits Suicide / Grieving Preacher Whose Wife Died Commits Suicide

Many Evangelical, Neo Reformed, Fundamentalist and conservative Christians of other stripes adhere to several fairy tale views, a few of which are:

1. That marriage (and parenthood) automatically (or over several years of marriage) makes a person completely sanctified, holy, pure, godly, self-less, and virtually immune from sexual sin;
2. that “real” Christians will never, ever suffer from depression or other mental health maladies or commit suicide

3. that Christians should not marry non-Christians (based on the “be not yoked” passage, but with some kind of assumption that a Christian man will make a superior spouse because he will not abuse or cheat on his spouse, etc)

Here we have below news stories of not just Christians, but married Christian men who worked as preachers who killed themselves. One of them, a preacher of a mega church, also had an extra marital affair. I believe both men were fathers.

Still, many Christians keep lecturing the rest of us that staying single (though some of us are not single by choice but by circumstance) is sinful, and that if only we would marry and become a parent, that being married and having a baby would make us holy, better, more responsible, and so on. I think continued examples like the following disprove this sort of thinking.

Wife of Preacher Shoots, Kills Him, Recounts Years of Physical and Sexual Abuse – So Much for the Equally Yoked Teaching and the Notion that Christian married sex is Mind Blowing

Christians tell you that you must marry only another Christian. They base this on only one or two very brief sentences in the New Testament that talk about not being yoked to an unbeliever.

Christians also offer up propaganda telling people if they wait until marriage to have sex, that the sex will be frequent and “mind blowing.”

Well, check out this 2007 news story (at Clergy Gone Wild) of a woman married to a Christian preacher:

(Link): TENNESSEE: Wife [Mary Winkler] who killed abusive preacher set free

    August 2007

CNN – After spending a total of seven months in custody, the Tennessee woman who fatally shot her preacher husband in the back was released on Tuesday, her lawyer told CNN.

Mary Winkler, a 33-year-old mother of three girls, was freed from a Tennessee mental health facility where she was treated for depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, lawyer Steve Farese said.

But on the stand, Mary Winkler described a hellish 10-year marriage during which, she said, her husband struck her, screamed at her, criticized her and blamed her when things went wrong.

She said he made her watch pornography and wear “slutty” costumes for sex, and that he forced her to submit to sex acts that made her uncomfortable.

She testified she pointed the shotgun at her husband during an argument to force him to talk through their problems, and “something went off.”

So. Let me see if I understand correctly.

If I stay a virgin until marriage and marry a Christian man (and a preacher, no less!), I can look forward to being sexually exploited, sexually humiliated, raped, forced to dress like a “slut,” forced to view pornography, on top of being verbally and physically abused? Gee, no thank you.

Churches Idolize Youth But Do Nothing to Protect Them

Churches Idolize Youth But Do Nothing to Protect Them

I have written about this before, but today, I wanted to note another side of the problem.

First here’s a recap.

Evangelical and seeker friendly and some Baptist churches, work their asses off to attract youth. Specifically, young married couples who have children under the age of 18, as well as young college kids.

I’ve no idea if it’s because churches perceive these age groups as being more hip and trendy, and they want their church to have a hip and cool vibe, or, if these families with kids have more money.

But, the fact remains, that as long as you are below the age of 25, churches go out of their way to cater to you and meet all your needs. If you’re unsaved, man, do they ever push hard to cajole you and kiss your behind and try to get you saved.

Once you hit your late 20s or early 30s, if you are not married with a kid of your own, that same church that worked its collective ass off to cater to your every whim and kiss your tukus, stops giving a flying crap about you.

I don’t know why churches and Christian culture works so effing hard at getting new converts to Christ only to drop them like hot potatoes once they reach a certain age.

Along with that, is this odd habit of Christians to worry endlessly about youth, to take an excessive interest in youth and wnning them to christ and getting them to attend church, but, once the young uns start going to church X, if they are molested by a staffer or Joe Blow at church X, then said preacher of church X tries to sweep the whole affair under the carpet.

I am not going to sit here and give links verifying all this. You can get off your lazy ass and use Google yourself.

Based on the many, many blogs and forums I have visited the last two years pertaining to spiritual abuse, leaving the Christian faith, and domestic/child abuse, by people who were exploited financially, raped by preachers, or abused in some other manner, many churches do not do anything to help child victims.

Some preachers blame the child victims for being molested or raped, by suggesting that they asked to be violated, that they are at fault…

Yes, I’ve seen accounts of church elders, church goers, or preachers suggesting that three year old females can be “sexually suggestive” to adult men and entice those men to fondle them – thus blaming the victim and sympathizing with the molestor.

I can rattle off horror stories I’ve seen the past two years on various blogs that cover instances of preachers, youth ministers, and other church people, who rape children, and these churches, to compound the issue, rally around the abusers but blame the victims. They will not phone civil authorities (ie, the cops).

How is it that we are living in a Christian culture that worships youth, chases after youth, dreams up countless ways to attract youth to church services, ignores anyone not married over the age of 25/30, gears all church services towards appealing to what they think youth want (electric guitars on stage, etc), but then, turns around and abandons that youth when they are fondled, exploited, or raped by preachers, church worship leaders, etc?

Churches today, in particular seeker friendly, evangelical, and mega churches, worship youth but then do nothing to protect them, and even blames them for being exploited by adults?

There is a very troubling set of double standards going on by preachers and other Christians today – they badly, badly want youth at their church (and claim to want to reach youth for Christ), but the moment the youth gets harmed by a church person, the preacher blames the youth and rallies support around the abuser.

Guy Who Works as Principal and Baptist Preacher Accused of Sex Acts With Students While In the School Building

Guy Who Works as Principal and Baptist Preacher Accused of Sex Acts With Students While In the School Building

One article I saw about this guy says he moonlights as a church preacher (or used to work as one).

But Christians (based on only one or two brief verses, such as “be not yoked to an unbeliever,” or “let her only remarry another believer”) keep unnecessarily limiting Christian single women to only seek out Christian men to marry, which in turn makes it next to impossible for many Christian single females to ever marry.

Why, why do Christians do this to single Christians? Any number of atheist or agnostic men would be better to marry than this child-raping, Christian, Baptist preacher sicko mentioned in the news story below.

I am really, really not seeing a solid rationale for any Christian woman (or borderline agnostic – Christian like me) to keep waiting for a Christian single guy to appear, to marry one, when so many Christian males turn out to be child- raping rats or wife- abusing scum.

Certainly not all Christian men are that way, but there seems to be a high enough percentage that it makes marrying a self professing believer a total crap shoot. You don’t know if the guy you are marrying is stand up, or a jerk who rapes kids, or will abuse you.

I’ve not been able to ascertain if the guy in the story is married or not, but I bet you anything he IS married, which would only serves as one more example against the stupid, moronic, Christian bias that married people are supposedly more godly and mature than unmarried people are.

Beware of HIV / AIDS Infected Christian Male Preachers On Dating Sites

I put this story in my last post but felt it deserved a stand-alone post of its own.

Note also that the first story says he had sex with a MARRIED woman.

See, Christians like to portray un-married Christian ladies as being little vixens who sleep around, who especially like to bed married guys and/or preachers.

Here we single ladies are NOT screwing around, and NOT bedding preachers and married men, but the -Christian- married ladies are boinking these guys like they are rabbits. So how come married Christian ladies don’t get the vixen stereotype, why does it only get applied to the single women?

Memphis minister Rodney Carr (pictured), who was arrested last year and charged with criminal exposure to HIV for knowingly infecting a woman, was recently spotted on a popular Black dating website, BlackPeopleMeet, looking to hook up with a potential mate, reports WREG Memphis.

Carr, who reportedly tested positive in 2005 for HIV, allegedly infected a married woman whom he reportedly dated in 2010 and 2011; her identity has not been revealed.

On a routine gynecological visit, the woman’s physician reportedly suggested an HIV test. When she reportedly received her results, she knew Carr had infected her.

According to the woman, the 47-year-old preacher never told her he was HIV positive. The woman claims she trusted Carr, because he is a minister.

On the dating website, Carr has two profiles: one under his name and another where he is listed as “Minterwonderful.” When the unnamed victim was told about Carr’s online profiles, she told WREG, “He’s not wonderful. He’s a creep. Going around doing what he’s doing. He’s not wonderful at all.”

A Memphis minister is accused of spreading more than the gospel.

One woman is accusing him of infecting her with HIV, and she doesn’t believe she’s the only victim.

“The reason I’m going to court and trying to get other women to come forward with this is because they need to know,” said the victim.
We agreed to conceal the woman’s identity. You’ll only see her shadow.

What she wants you to do is hear her voice.

It is her warning to other women.

“I went to the doctor for a check up and they asked if you want to be HIV tested and I said sure why not. 2010, that’s when I found out,” she said.

She found out she was HIV positive and is fighting to bring the man she believes knowingly infected her to justice.

She claims a Memphis preacher, Minister Rodney Carr, is spreading the virus that leads to AIDS.

He’s now charged with Criminal Exposure to HIV.

Married Baptist Preacher with Daughter Charged With Murdering Three People in Pawn Shop – Tell Me Again Why Single Christian Women Should Only Consider Marrying Christian Guys? And How Parenting and Marriage Makes a Person More Godly and Mature??

This preacher is married, according to (Link): this source.

He worked as a Baptist preacher.

There are photos of him on most of these news reports: they say he’s only 48 years old, but he looks like he’s a very old 68. He’s fat and ugly, too.

And Christians keep insisting, all based on a tiny verse that says “be not yoked to an unbeliever,” that Christian women should only marry Christians.

Why the holy hell should un-married Christian women (who already out number single Christian males) bother with holding out for professing Christian mates, when these disgusting pigs turn out to be killers, child rapists, and drug addicts?

I wanted to get married, but remain single into my 40s because Christians taught me from the time I was a kid and teenager that Christians should only marry other believers, and that if I waited and had faith, and if I just wanted marriage badly enough, that God would send me a Christian spouse.

Well, that did not happen.

I am more and more convinced with each passing year of life that you have to base your judgement of a man based on his actions and character, and not whether he professes Christ or attends a church or works as a pastor.

Eugene Hollis, Keith’s former business partner in a Somerset pawn shop and in the Danville shop ultimately sold to Hockensmith, said he had known Keith for almost 30 years. Keith has been involved in ministry throughout that time, Hollis said.

Keith was youth minister at Main Street Baptist in Burnside for a period, then went to a church in Lancaster for several years before returning to Main Street as pastor about six years ago, Hollis said.

Keith is married with a young daughter, said Hollis, who lives in Somerset.

Hollis said he does not believe Keith committed the murders. Keith’s life has been focused on his ministry and his family, Hollis said, and he said he does not believe Keith would do anything to jeopardize either.

“It’s extremely out of character for him. He’s not a violent person,” Hollis said.

Hollis’ wife, Delois, said Keith is “a loving, caring husband, father, minister.”

Pro Ball Player Convicted for Kid Diddling Three Kids Claims to be an Outstanding Christian (and he’s married with a kid of his own) – again, why should Christian single gals limit themselves to only marrying Christian men? The Whole “Being Yoked Equally” thing is irrelevant and unduly limiting for singles

I was told my whole life by Christians it would be wrong for me to marry a Non-Christian because the Bible has one sentence that says “do not be yoked to an unbeliever.”

I ran into a few decent Non-Christian guys growing up, but no, couldn’t get into a romantic relationship with them or marry them, because according to Christian folklore, if I just kept “trusting in the Lord” and praying about my marital future, in due time God would send me a Christian Prince Charming.

I find myself still never-married in my early 40s.

There is no, there was no, Christian Prince Charming that was my reward for staying a virgin, for being a good Christian girl who prayed, had faith, and waited on “God’s timing” or for “God’s Best.”

Meanwhile, as a single, other singles and myself go ignored by the Christian community, when they are not harboring insulting stereotypes about older singles (such as all unmarried women are harlots that will steal married men).

Supposedly, the unmarried are not as godly, sexually pure and loving as married people with children.

Then we come across stories such as this by a guy who says he is a swell Christian – and I’m not sure, but I think he might be married with children of his own?

I cannot believe Christians expected me to hinge my entire marital relationship destiny on one measly biblical verse that contains the phrase “be not yoked to an unbeliever,” and upon reflection, I wonder what in the hell does that verse even mean?

Maybe Apostle Paul was only talking about tennis partners, for all we know.

The end result of holding that verse up as the end- all, be- all of marriage advice is tragic, though: lots of single Christian ladies like me who wanted marriage are single into our 40s.

I cannot believe a perverted guy like this gets a spouse while decent people such as myself, despite wanting to be married, can’t so much get a date for Friday night.

Oh yes, this story also works against another secular and Christian stereotype: that older, never-married men are sexual predators. Here we have a story about a MARRIED man who is a FATHER who was convicted of child sexual abuse.

(Link): Sex offender Chad Curtis says his victims are lying and he’s a “Christian servant”

Excerpt:

Curtis claims he’s “living faith every day” — and thinks he and his victim could write a book together

    BY MARY ELIZABETH WILLIAMS

Former major league outfielder Chad Curtis says he tries to “live my faith every day.” Chad Curtis is a recently convicted sex offender.

On Thursday in Hastings, Mich., the 44-year-old was sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison on six counts of second-, third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The victims were three teenage girls he knew during his time as a high school volunteer weight-room strength trainer two years ago. When he was initially suspended from his position last year, he told reporters, “I’d ask [the community] to pray for us and pray that this would be resolved in a way that is honoring to God.”

Now, in a courtroom statement the prosecution called “an arrogant, self-serving hour-long soliloquy,” Curtis, who played for the Yankees in two winning World Series, steadfastly maintained that his victims were liars, saying, “The truth will set her free. I think this whole thing is an unfortunate situation where the whole truth has not been told. I believe her [the victim] and I could write a book someday and it would have a positive impact on a whole lot of people.” It’s a horrible, desperately insensitive thing to say, but it’s an illuminating window into the mind of a convicted sex offender – one who still bafflingly seeks connection with his accuser.

The girls all tell similar tales — of Curtis groping them under the guise of giving them athletic massages. In her account of his actions, one of his teenage victims said that he’d “he exposed her breast, covered it with his mouth and simultaneously groped her crotch.”

When she began crying, she says he swore that “he would never again succumb to his immoral impulses” and asked her to pray with him.

She says that when she refused he told her, “Prayer is always good.” According to Michigan Live, it was the same scenario with the other two victims: “Each would hear an apology. Each would receive a promise that it would not happen again.” Yet if he expressed contrition during his encounters with the victims, there was none of the kind on display during his trial or sentencing.

Judge calls the former Yankees team member a predator during sentencing

    By Courtney Subramanian
    Oct. 03, 2013

New York Yankees’ ex-outfielder Chad Curtis was sentenced Thursday to seven to 15 years in prison for sexual abuse by a Michigan circuit judge who called him a predator and a community threat.

Curtis, whose career spans from 1992 to 2001 and includes two World Series wins with the New York Yankees, was convicted of six counts of criminal sexual conduct in August. During a stint volunteering as a weight trainer at a Barry County high school, the ex-MLB star inappropriately touched three teenage girls.

Two 15-year-olds said he touched their buttocks while a 16-year-old girl said he touched and kissed her breasts. The 44-year-old told the court Thursday that the three girls lied, while calling himself a Christian servant.

(Link): Chad Curtis blames his victims in court speech, offers to write a book with one

HASTINGS, MI – As Chad Curtis delivered what a prosecutor called an arrogant, self-serving hour-long soliloquy, the three teen victims of his sexual crimes could take no more and walked out of the courtroom.

But they returned in time to hear Barry County Circuit Court Judge Amy McDowell sentence the former major leaguer and school athletic mentor to seven to 15 years in prison for his sexual assault of three girls at Lakewood High School.

“I feel like I’ve got to a point now where I have done all I can do and I can move on with my life,” said the 18-year-old, who was the victim of Curtis’ crimes in 2011 when he committed third-degree criminal sexual conduct against the then-high school senior. The crime involves sexual penetration.

… For his part, Curtis talked for an hour and accused all the victims of lying during the week-long trial in August, during which Curtis was found guilty of six counts of criminal sexual conduct.

Curtis talked of how he was playing for the Detroit Tigers, one of six teams he would play for in a 10-year career ending 2001, when he decided he wanted to become a servant of God.

Curtis talked at length about all the students he helped by getting his teaching certificate at Cornerstone University. He talked about the people he brought to Christ through his example and the lives he helped turn around even as he waited sentencing in the Barry County Jail.

“I wake up every morning and ask, ‘How can I be a positive influence in this little cell?” Curtis told the judge. “I live my faith every day.”

Curtis took exception to being called selfish by the victims and their parents, and he seemed intent on making sure the judge knew that he was not selfish.

Curtis also said he was the one rebuffing advances from the girls, who accused him of getting them alone in the school weight room and then molesting them under the guise of athletic conditioning.

He said the girls will have to come to terms with their wrong-doing.

“The truth will set her free,” he said of one of his victims.

“I think this whole thing is an unfortunate situation where the whole truth has not been told, Curtis said. “I believe her (the victim) and I could write a book someday and it would have a positive impact on a whole lot of people.”

Barry County Prosecutor Julie Nakfoor Pratt said Curtis’ statement showed an utter lack of remorse and showed that he needed to be put in prison.

“That was the most selfish, self-serving, victim-blaming statement I’ve heard in my career as a prosecutor,” Pratt said. “It speaks volumes about his character, or lack thereof.”

Following the sentence hearing, defense attorney David Dodge gathered with supporters of his client, including Curtis’ wife and daughter, as they met in a circle and prayed in the courthouse parking lot.

One source says he used to claim to be a Christian, but eleven months ago shared with his fans online that he is having doubts about the Christian faith.

Hey, me too! But I don’t go around hiring hit men to whack people.

One news page says he and his wife have three children together (adopted). So fatherhood, contrary to conservative Christian mythology, does not make a man a better person than a childless or childfree man.

So, here is another example of a married Christian guy, who is also a father, is being a no good rat. Often, conservative Christians assume or teach that un-married (Christian) adults are not as responsible and ethical as their married counterparts.

I am never-married, but, I’ve never been a drug addict, and I’ve never murdered anyone, nor have I ever hired a hit man to get someone bumped off. But supposedly by mere fact I am single, many Christians would assume I’m not as godly or kind-hearted as married people.

(Link): Steroids Found in Christian Metal Singer Tim Lambesis’ Home: Detective

The singer of the Grammy-nominated Christian metal band “As I Lay Dying” was arrested on May 7 in Oceanside

San Diego officials investigating an alleged murder-for-hire plot involving Christian metal singer Tim Lambesis found dozens of vials of what appeared to be steroids and thousands of dollars in cash in the musician’s bedroom, a detective testified Monday.

Homicide investigators found a lock box in Lambesis’ Carlsbad home containing “a lot of different quantities” of male enhancement-type drugs, male libido-type drugs and estrogen blocking drugs, Det. John Buckley with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department testified.
There were approximately 30 to 40 vials along with different types of pill packages with more than $12,000 in cash, the detective said.

The steroids were found after the singer of the Grammy-nominated Christian metal band “As I Lay Dying” was arrested on charges of solicitation of another to commit murder and conspiracy to commit a crime on May 7.

Prosecutors allege that Lambesis approached a trainer from his gym on Apr. 23 and asked if the person knew anyone who could kill his wife, Meggan Lambesis of Del Mar.

“He wanted to know if maybe I could find someone to do it for him,” personal trainer Brett Kimball testified in court Monday.

Metalcore frontman faces maximum nine years in prison after sting operation exposes ‘plot to kill ex-wife’

    Sean Michaels
    theguardian.com, Tuesday 17 September 2013 10.08 EDT

The frontman of Christian metalcore band As I Lay Dying will stand trial on the charge of trying to hire an assassin to kill his ex-wife. Timothy Lambesis allegedly told an undercover policeman he wanted Meggan Lambesis “gone”, agreeing to pay $20,000 (£12,500).

Timothy was arrested in May, following a meeting in a bookshop with a man calling himself “Red”. “Just to clarify, just so you know, I do want her dead,” Lambesis reportedly said. He is said to have then handed Red a manila envelope with Meggan’s name and photo, the security code for her flat, a description of her vehicle and three proposed dates for the slaying. He also included an initial $1,000 deposit.

Unfortunately for Lambesis, Red is better known as county sheriff’s officer Howard Bradley. The sting was arranged after authorities had been alerted to the musician’s alleged plot by a trainer at his gym, whom Lambesis had asked for help.

… Lambesis founded As I Lay Dying in 2000, fronting the band through all of its six albums. Their last three LPs reached the Billboard top 15, and the group played the UK’s Download festival in 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2012.

Prosecutors claim Lambesis provided the undercover agent with an envelope containing $1,000 cash for expenses, his wife’s address and gate codes, pictures of her and specific dates when he would have the children and thus, an alibi.

Deputy Howard Bradley described the meeting in which Lambesis handed him a manila envelope containing 10 $100 bills during a preliminary hearing Monday in San Diego Superior Court in Vista.

“He told me he wanted his wife gone,” Bradley testified.

He went on to explain how Lambesis immediately agreed to the $20,000 fee and said he had already withdrawn the money from his bank account.

Lambesis explained he wanted his wife dead because she was going to get up to 60-percent of his income and would not allow their children – ages 4, 8, and 10 – to go on tour with him, the deputy testified.

Court documents reveal Meggan Lambesis had filed for divorce in September 2012 to end the couple’s 8-year marriage.

In the divorce records obtained by the Associated Press, Meggan Lambesis claims the rocker had become “obsessed with bodybuilding” and was distracted with the children, even falling asleep once while watching them. She also claimed he has spent thousands of dollars on tattoos.

Example of How Christian Teaching About Sex, Marriage, and Gender Creates Hang Ups and Entitlements Among Christians

Example of How Christian Teaching About Sex, Marriage, and Gender Creates Hang Ups and Entitlements Among Christians

Christians often promise in their dating advice books, blogs, and in sermons about marriage, that if you wait until marriage to have sex, you will have “mind blowing,” great sex.

Christians also wrongly teach that females are responsible for male sexual failings and that all women are to be viewed sexually, as sexual objects.

Hence, much pressure is placed on Christian females to “dress modestly” and the males are told to stay away from women, and to glance away any time a woman walks past, or if they see a woman on a television commercial.

Christians also maintain the fairy tale that only males are visually stimulated, so that only females are lectured from the pulpits and Christian dating advice blogs and magazines to diet, exercise regularly, wear make-up, and look attractive. Christian men do not get told by these same publications and preachers to exercise and stay in shape, even though it is a FACT that women care VERY MUCH about male physical appearance.

The outcome of this incorrect teaching about only men caring about appearance and all women being temptresses is that single Christian males grow up expecting and feeling entitled to marry a Christian woman who looks like movie star Megan Fox, who has the morals of an Angel, who will give them Porn-i-riffic, great sex every night.

Christian singles are conditioned by Christian teachings on sex, gender roles, and dating, to begin viewing things and actions that are not sexual as though they should be sexualized. This hinders normal male-female interaction, friendships are not formed, and hence, no marriages.

You can see yet another example of this in the long excerpts farther below.

This guy, who I think is Michael Pearl, who is a Christian – I believe he is a pastor?, or he writes books with Christian advice about marriage and parenting (you can read more about him and his wife in this post at RHE’s blog, Link: The abusive teachings of Michael and Debi Pearl).

He grew up a Christian virgin, obsessed with sexual purity to the point he viewed all women as sexual temptresses and whores (even proper Christian women at his church), and due to the mere fact he was a virgin, he felt entitled to non-stop great sex from his wife once they married even though she was dead tired, sleepy, in pain.

Pearl admits to having been selfish with his wife but does not mention making no attempt at curbing his selfishness, so I assume he did not, and he still sounds selfish as hell years later recounting his past with his wife.

This reminds me of the creepy, loser, obese, ugly, 47 year old virgin guy mentioned on another site that I posted about last week, the guy who feels just because he is a virgin at age 47 that he is entitled to date or marry an attractive, skinny 18 – 25 year old.

I wrote about him (Link): in this older post, “Creepy, wrong, immature and pathetic: older men chasing after much younger women”.

    (To be clear:

Unlike (Link): idiot Moore, I do not fault a Christian adult virgin for wanting and hoping to marry another virgin.

    That, to me, is understandable.

Where I take issue is with a fat, ugly, repulsive, socially backwards hill-billy loser idiot who is a virgin at age 45 who thinks his virginity and/or being male entitles him to a suave, financially secure, thin, and sexy 21 year old movie star look-alike.)

Here are some excerpts:

    [by Libby Anne]

In this Chapter, Michael [Pearl] talks about his first love, sex, and his first sex. Get ready.

[9 year-old Michael walks down the road after Bible school and sees a girl in a pretty dress. He walks on the other side of the road and tries to walk “with her”] I never spoke. She never looked at me, but I studied her profile and her dainty little walk.

It was the most amazing and wonderful thing I had ever seen. I was in love. I WANTED ONE [emphasis mine].

But it was all too scary to this skinny, bug-eyed boy. The thought of even speaking to this splendid apparition made me tremble with a feeling of helplessness.

So we can see, even at 9, to Michael, women are possessions to be claimed. And “things” and “apparitions”, not fellow humans. We are off to a great start.

    Puberty

But then I went through puberty. That was like entering a cool tunnel and coming out the other end in the middle of a fire. I gave my life to Jesus Christ about the same time, and had been well brought-up and taught the Word of God, so I was quite clear on moral boundaries.

But the fire burned and the only thing I wanted more than god was to have one of those lovelies they call the opposite sex.

After awhile, I began to wonder if maybe the devil-rather than God-hadn’t created sex. SEX with the big X in it, like “Danger. Don’t touch.” It seemed like such a consuming indulgence.

I was fasting and praying, studying my Bible, and walking down the road with my blinders on. I found all TV programs to be designed to create lust. Every billboard with a woman on it was a doorway to hell. The Sears and Roebuck catalog was pornography. Many of the women at church were seductive whores.

Cleavage was an attempt to damn me. Tight dresses were designed to make me wet my pants. It was enough to make a monk or a whore monger out of a fourteen-year-old. The world was on fire and I was trying to keep from burning.

Holy cow. Where to start? One thing I’ve noticed growing up in a conservative Christian religion is how, ironically, sex obsessed things are. Billboards and catalogs are created to tempt you!

Heaven forbid they show off the merchandise they are trying to sell you.

It’s kind of scary how violently he reacts to women.

They are whores trying to damn him because they showed a bit of cleavage—and he grew up in the Bible belt in the 50-60s, I’m sure there wasn’t that much cleavage on display.

It’s kind of sad to think that he was full of this much self-hatred and desire at 14. I’ve watched enough Law and Order to know that this combination can result in a serial killer.

Married Christians Who Were Arrested for Rape, Attempted Murder, or Other Crimes – more examples

Married Christians Who Were Arrested for Rape, Attempted Murder, or Other Crimes – more examples

Christians live under the illusion that married people are more mature, godly, and sexually pure than the un-married. They don’t seem to limit this to Christians but to all people, Non Christians included. They believe there is something about matrimony which either instantly, or over several years, causes a person to be more mature and self-less.

Marriage is viewed by many Christians as some kind of sanctifier, though the Bible teaches sanctifiction (being made holy) is the role of the Holy Spirit, not a spouse.

Christians also keep mentioning the Bible verse “be not yoked to unbelievers” in discussions on dating and marriage, as one argument that a Christian should not marry a Non Christian, with (Link): some Christian authors implying that Christians are more holy or sinless than Non Christians, for they have the Holy Spirit living in them.

Not all examples I post in either category that dispute such notions are of Christian men, but some are.

It really does not make a difference if the people under discussion are not Christians, another reason being that Christian men frequently show up on Christian news sites as being arrested for domestic abuse, rape, pedophilia, or to be reported to use porn, at the same rates as Non Christian men.

It’s not just Non-Christians who are raping, abusing, or robbing and murdering people: it’s Christians as well.

Sometimes married Christian women are arrested for rape, murder, or child abuse, too.

Here below are more examples of married men (and one Christian woman) who were arrested for crimes or for plotting crimes.

If I am not mistaken the pervert mentioned below, Ariel Castro, was married at one time, and someone mentions in this article that he went to church every week – he would come home after church services and rape three women he held prisoner in his basement.

    By Benjamin Mueller
    August 1, 2013, 6:00 a.m.

Matters of God and forgiveness gripped a Michigan courtroom this week, transforming a sinister murder-for-hire case into an unlikely display of mercy and restraint.

Jacob Merfeld, 27, whose 21-year-old wife, Julia, was caught scheduling and financing his murder in April, stood before a judge during her sentencing hearing Tuesday and called her “a godly woman” and “wonderful wife.” Appearing stern and a bit stricken, he said his wife’s faith had only grown since her crime, and that she should be allowed to spend “every second that she can” with their two children, ages 4 and 2.

… She giggled as she asked the cop to kill Jacob outside her home — “’cause it would be messy in the house,” she said. She also said she worried that disguising the murder as a burglary-gone-wrong might scare away a friend who she hoped would move in with her after her husband was killed. “I don’t want to live there by myself afterwards,” she said.

Merfeld quoted the Bible during her sentencing hearing, and promised that her repentance was sincere. “My tears are not for your pity, my honor. My tears are for remorse.” She shook when she mentioned the possibility of her crime having been carried out.

Her lawyer, Muskegon public defender Joseph Fisher, said he was familiar with the family’s faith from what Merfeld had told him before about sin and forgiveness, but that he was still “impressed” by Jacob’s very public pardon.

…Knight, Castro’s most abused victim, told the court that she was kidnapped when her son was just 2 and a half years old, and that she never stopped crying.

..”You took 11 years of my life away. … I spent 11 years in hell. Now, your hell is just beginning,” she added.

Trend Du Juor & Partially Off-Base Solution To – Sex Trafficking

Trend Du Juor & Partially Off Base Solution To – Regarding: Sex Trafficking

I disagree a tad with this author’s solution to the problem of sex trafficking:

(Link): To Fight Sex Trafficking, Fight the Ideology That Creates It, Expert Says

Before I get to that quibble, I wanted to complain a moment about how conservative Christians get “trendy” with causes, sometimes like secular culture does. I have written of this weird, odd habit of Christians before, in several posts, this is just one example: (Link): Suffering and Misery Trend Du Jour

Remember in the 1980s, when there was Hands Across America and LiveAid massive, public fund raising events and rock concerts? There was a real obsession with feeding the hungry, and in particular, hungry dark-skinned Africans.

Disclaimer: I think it’s great if Christians, or whomever, wants to feed hungry, and yes, the Bible encourages it; and no, I’m not opposed people of any skin color helping people of whatever skin color. I’m not opposed to people saving little girls or teens from sex trafficking, or helping orphans.

What has driven me up the wall for years, though, is this narrow focus on classes of suffering, and that many white Christians want to help only dark- skinned Africans, or other highly specific groups, such as American homeless crack addicts.

Your average, middle class Christian refuses to simply help the people who God (if He even exists) puts in his or her path daily – like maybe your 76 year old widowed neighbor, let’s say.

Maybe your elderly neighbor is lonely. Why don’t you invite her over for a spot of tea? Why don’t you mow her lawn for her, instead of running downtown to hand sandwiches out to… drunk homeless people you don’t even know?

Why not help the people in your immediate vicinity who need your help, rather than twisting your hands in concern over starving orphans you’ve never met on another continent, and mailing checks to “Feed Africa” charities you see advertised on television ministries?

There are Christian churches in Africa – but American Christians continue to behave as though there are no Christians in Africa.

I have noticed in the last five years an uptick in interest among Christians in the human (sex) trafficking situation. I’m sure human sex trafficking has been going on since time immemorial; why are Christians only showing interest in it lately?

Varieties of human suffering are not like fashions, one day 1860s hoop skirts, then 1950s poodle skirts, then polyester leisure suits, bell bottoms, then on to parachute pants and Members Only jackets. But Christians treat suffering in this way.

While I still see a lot of “feed the African” appeals on Christian TV shows, the overall spotlight seems to be on sex trafficking now. The attitude now seems to be, “Let’s forget about the starving African kids, now, the cooler, hip brand of human misery is six year old girls being sold as whores to adults, so let’s focus all our energy on that.”

Here are excerpts from ‘To Fight Sex Trafficking, Fight the Ideology That Creates It, Expert Says’

PHILADELPHIA – In the fight against sex trafficking, the Church needs to address the root causes – the ideas in culture that break the linkage sex has to love, responsibility and children, Lisa Thompson, liaison for the abolition of sexual trafficking for the Salvation Army, said during a Friday presentation at The Justice Conference.

“Sex trafficking is a battle of ideas,” Thompson explained during a pre-conference session on sex trafficking. The Church in America too often does not do enough to address the ideology upon which sex trafficking is based – “an ideology that disassociates sex from love, responsibility and children.”

American culture embraces this idea, she continued, and it is “spewed upon us” by “media elites in our culture,” such as movies, books and TV shows.

“One of the reasons sex trafficking is flourishing is that we, as a Church, do not do enough to address the ideology that disassociates sex from love,” Thompson explained.

… “The Church is uniquely situated to do prevention,” Morgan said, through youth leadership and spiritual formation programs.

I appreciate that both ladies, Thompson and Morgan, are trying to fight this evil, I truly do. However.

With 80% -(or whatever the high rate is, stats are in other posts on my blog)- of conservative Christians fornicating (that is, having sex outside of marriage these days), and I think 80% is also a recent number I saw for number of conservative Christian men who are addicted to pornography…

And given that for decades now, preachers and Christian books have been telling Christians ‘sex is for marriage only,’ ‘don’t divorce sex from love,’ and all the rest of the usual sex shtick one hears from conservative Christianity mouthpieces…

If such propaganda and argumentation was not enough to keep Christian themselves chaste, virgins until marriage, and to keep men (and now, some women) away from pornography (and it has not for many of them, though certainly some have remained sexually pure), how oh how do these anti- sex trafficking women speakers expect the same rationale and arguments to work against sex trafficking of people?

I’ve seen a few secular news articles about sex trafficking, and some of the men who were caught soliciting sex from kids were employed as PREACHERS. That’s right, men whose job was to love people and spread the Gospel.

I have previous posts on this blog with lists of links to news articles about “Christians,” including preachers, who have been arrested for raping children, raping women, murdering people and similar, horrid things.

Regarding this quote from the article:

American culture embraces this idea [an ideology that disassociates sex from love, responsibility and children.”], she [Thompson] continued, and it is “spewed upon us” by “media elites in our culture,” such as movies, books and TV shows.

I hate to break it to her, but it’s not only “media elite” and secular movies, books and TV shows which have cheapened sex, but it is also the Christian church, certain preachers, and Christian culture in America today, that has cheapened sex and sexual purity and sexual self control. Rather than restate my arguments here on those points, I invite you to read my previous posts on those issues:

Exclusive: David Kupelian challenges Pastor Mark Driscoll about his ‘obsession’

There’s a new form of Christianity sweeping the U.S. Its main focus: sex.

…And while there is a surprising number of preachers, teachers and Christian websites today whose main focus is sex, the most prominent is Mark Driscoll, founding pastor of the wildly popular Seattle mega-church Mars Hill Church.

…By the way, as runner-up for top mega-church pastor in “The Church of Sex,” I’d nominate Ed Young, senior pastor of Dallas-based Fellowship Church, who recently staged “a 24-hour bed-in with his wife atop his church,” a stunt designed to publicize his just-released New York Times best-seller, “Sexperiment: 7 Days to Lasting Intimacy With Your Spouse.”

… However, let’s just state the obvious: Mark Driscoll is utterly obsessed with sex.

He tells, for instance, the following story of one female member of his congregation who – and I quote – “brought her husband to Christ” by giving him oral sex, in accord with Driscoll’s specific pastoral advice to her. Here’s how Driscoll, during a Nov. 18, 2007, sermon in Edinburgh, Scotland, described this particular husband’s “conversion”:

Again, I appreciate that Thompson and the other lady mentioned in the article are speaking out against human sex trafficking, but I do not think telling Christians to remember or spread the word that sex should not be divorced from love will do much of anything to decrease the selling of females for sex.

Conservative Christians have been telling other Christians, and secular society (at least the teenagers), that sex is for marriage only for several decades now, and that has not exactly diminished the number of people – as teens or as adults – having sex outside of marriage, cheating on partners once they do marry, or using pornography.

I fail to see how the same strategy could be all that helpful in fighting sex trafficking.

A lot of Christians today actually mock and ridicule or criticize the idea that any adult can practice sexual self control (I refer you again to my previous post: (Link): The Contemporary Church Undervalues Celibacy / Virginity [Christians do not support virginity, celibacy, or even traditional marriage, even though they say they do]).

These are Christians doing the mocking and questioning of sexual purity/ celibacy / virginity these days, mind you, not just secular society, where one would expect to find it. You can’t win an anti sex trafficking situation when even Christians have thrown in the towel on sexual purity concepts, which they have.
