Why Sex-Positive Feminism is Falling Out of Fashion

…But sex positivity now seems to be fading from fashion among younger people, failing to speak to their longings and frustrations just as anti-porn feminism failed to speak to those of an earlier generation.

It’s no longer radical, or even really necessary, to proclaim that women take pleasure in sex.

If anything, taking pleasure in sex seems, to some, vaguely obligatory.

In a July BuzzFeed News article headlined, “These Gen Z Women Think Sex Positivity Is Overrated,” one 23-year-old woman said, “It feels like we were tricked into exploiting ourselves.”

‘The Sex Ed Being Taught Is Pornographic’: Inside the ‘Evil’ Sex Ed Moves in Our Schools and Gender Chaos

‘The Sex Ed Being Taught Is Pornographic’: Inside the ‘Evil’ Sex Ed Moves in Our Schools and Gender Chaos

Audio on this page (the audio file is embedded on their page):

(Link): ‘The Sex Ed Being Taught Is Pornographic’: Inside the ‘Evil’ Sex Ed Moves in Our Schools and Gender Chaos

On that page, the host has on a guest, Mindy Cline, who explains how and why sex ed is pornographic.

One thing Cline explains is that the groups (seemingly far left groups) who are trying to push past parents to put inappropriate sex education content into public schools have an ideology that children are sexual since birth, children should be allowed to engage in sexual behavior (even with adults) at any time. These groups refer to this as ‘Sex Positivity.’

These pro- sex positive groups believe that to prohibit the sexualization of children, to discourage or prevent children from engaging in sexual acts (even with adults) is a form of Sexual Repression.

They also discuss other topics, like how parents need to limit the amount of time they allow their children to spend online, because a lot of time, children are becoming sexualized or enticed to identify as transgender due to the content they are seeing on You Tube, Tumblr, and other sites.

One of the speakers mentions that a lot of (Link): preachers are afraid to speak out against any of these issues due to fear of backlash – these women say the preachers they’ve spoken to say these are very controversial topics, and they “already have targets on their heads,” and they don’t want another one.

Burns was initially charged in 2019 once an ex-girlfriend stepped forward with information that he was having sex with other women and apparently not telling them he was infected.
He will be put on probation for 12 months following his release from prison, the outlet stated.

This story actually broke earlier in the week, so if you haven’t thrown out your 2020 bingo cards yet and you had “super gonorrhea,” break out your daubing pen because this is your lucky day.

The World Health Organization is warning the public that certain measures taken to combat the COVID pandemic may already be resulting in mutations of some sexually transmitted diseases that are highly resistant to antibiotics.

This is of particular concern in the case of gonorrhea because there have been significant surges in new cases around the world in the past couple of years, particularly in parts of Africa. But the United States has been seeing similar increases in new infections.

This is so very gross. There are advantages to being celibate – when you’re not having sex, you don’t have to worry about stuff like this.

Police in Vietnam have seized 324,000 used condoms which were being recycled to be sold again.

Paid workers were tasked with cleaning the rubber contraceptives before reshaping them with wooden dildos.

The condoms were then repackaged before being resold to the public and thousands had already been sent out to the unsuspecting public.

Half of U.S. Christians Say Sex is Sometimes, Always OK in Dating Relationships (2020)

Half of U.S. Christians Say Sex is Sometimes, Always OK in Dating Relationships by A. Kumar (2020)

I am not surprised. This is actually similar to another survey I saw a few years ago, and I may have covered it here on this blog (I don’t remember).

It’s disappointing, frustrating and bewildering how so many Christians are not only living in sexual sin – and sex prior to marriage is in fact sin – but that they think it’s just fine.

The Bible does speak against fornication, and even if it is not or was not mentioned specifically (as some like to argue), it was still the societal expectation – it didn’t need to be stated specifically in the Bible, since it was already understood in the culture the Bible came from, that God was not okay with people having sex outside of marriage.

There are not, that I can recall, any Bible verses specifically condemning infanticide, child molesting, or bank robbing, but that does not mean that the Bible is okay with any of those behaviors.

I think a case can be made against those behaviors – and against fornication – by pointing to other biblical principles.

In light of the fact that Christians (Link): don’t even make a pretense at living by sexual ethics as taught in the Bible, or in defending them these days, I really do not need to see another Christian woman on another blog or on social media saying how harmful “purity culture” teachings were to women (depending on the context of their arguments. Are some facets of Christian purity culture sexist against women? Yes – but that does not negate that fornication remains a sin).

The pendulum regarding sexual behavior and attitudes held by Christians has now swung too far in the other direction – to pure hedonism and “don’t judge me, I’ll have sex with whomever and whenever I want to.”

And folks like me who actually “walked the walk” and did not have sex outside of marriage are shamed for it, or insulted for it, by Christians and conservative groups (see more about that under “Related Posts” at the bottom of this page).

September 2020

Half of Christians say sex between consenting adults who are in a committed dating relationship is sometimes or always acceptable, and over half — with the exception of evangelical Protestants — say casual sex is OK, according to a survey by the Pew Research Center.

Some 62% of Catholics, 56% of Protestants in the historically black tradition, 54% of mainline Protestants, and 36% of evangelical Protestants say casual sex between consenting adults is sometimes or always acceptable, according to the survey.

Among those who are religiously unaffiliated, as many as 84% say

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — We all have a past, and romantic histories can often be a sore spot among lovers in a committed, long-term relationship.

No one wants to hear about a current partner’s past sexual experiences, but a new long-term study finds that an individual’s personal beliefs on casual sex, even long before getting married or meeting their significant other, can make it much harder to stay happily married in the future.

Researchers from Florida State University investigated several factors likely to lead to a marriage’s ultimate success or failure, and identified pre-marital beliefs and behaviors pertaining to uncommitted sex as a major red flag indicating a marriage is not so likely to last.

My Thoughts Regarding the Editorial: Sex & The Single Pastor by Rod Dreher

My Thoughts Regarding the Editorial: Sex & The Single Pastor by Rod Dreher

The following editorial by Rod Dreher is about a liberal Luthern preacher named Nadia Bolz Weber who recently had a bunch of women’s “sexual purity rings” melted down to have an artist form them into the shape of a vagina.

Bolz Weber also released a new book about sex called “Shameless.” It’s an anti-Purity Culture book.

The author of this essay, Dreher, refers readers of his piece to (Link): this page (“The Luthern Pastor Calling For a Sexual Revolution”) at the New Yorker about Bolz Weber.

I was a devout Christian for many years, and that is one reason among a few as to why I remain a virgin past the age of 45.

That’s right, I’ve never had sex – because I was waiting until I got married to have sex, but I never found the right guy to marry.

I have spent a few years blogging here pointing out how nobody but nobody respects adult virginity or celibacy.

Many conservatives and Christians mock and insult adult celibacy and virginity, not just “sex positive” feminists or liberals.

As a matter of fact, a lot of Christians (and secular conservatives) view marriage to be the norm, and as something that can “fix” society, so they shame or insult anyone who remains single past the page of 30, whether that singleness is due to choice or circumstance. (I have examples of this sort of thing in older posts on this blog.)

Pro tip: Don’t take advice from people who brag about their ‘smoking hot wives.’

Excerpts:

… Through [Christian-based] abstinence talks and dating talks and relationship talks, my understanding of marriage has become strewn with oft-repeated lines like “I don’t deserve my smoking hot wife” and “sex is awesome and feels great but you need to wait. I did.”

Well-meaning as they were, speakers used these lines to preach the Gospel, but the main thing I took away was a shallow understanding of sex and marriage. I found myself believing in two lies: “marriage and sex are completely different” and “sex is about me.”

Marriage and Sex Are Completely Different

Most talks and sermons on physical intimacy and marriage are compartmentalized. It is about sex… and then marriage, or it is about marriage… and then sex.
