Atheist Video About Being a Virgin or Sexually Abstinent – My Critique of the Atheist’s Critique

Atheist Video About Being a Virgin of Sexually Abstinent – My Critique of the Atheist’s Critique

When I am on You Tube, I seldom seek out videos about marriage, sex, dating, or singleness.

When I do visit You Tube, I normally seek out subject matter such as movie reviews and cute animal videos, but this video by “Paulogia” was bumped to the top of my ‘suggested videos to watch’ list by You Tube, so I decided to take a look.

I actually do not enjoy reading or watching content by people who are critical of ‘virginity- until- marriage,’  or who pick apart and criticize Christian teachings about sex. I find these types of things tedious, insulting, and annoying, depending on their take.

In this video, the atheist, Paul of “Paulogia” on You Tube, has a woman co-host in the video with him (I suppose she is an atheist too), Liz, where they are critiquing the video of some guy, Joe Kirby (who is a Christian), who is advocating for sexual abstinence until marriage (which is not a bad thing to advocate for, despite Liz’s seemingly sounding disdain for this).

I’ve never heard of Joe Kirby before. His You Tube page is (Link): here, “Off the Kirb Ministries”. I’ve never watched any of his videos before. All I’ve seen are the clips of the one Kirby video in the Paulogia video.

Okay, yes, as I watched more of the video, Paul says that Liz is an ex-Christian who gives sex advice on her You Tube channel (more about this below). videoScreenCap

Off to the side, you can see a screen capture I made from part of the video where a cartoon Liz, with a cartoon Paul, are watching Kirby’s (who doesn’t appear as a cartoon) video.  Watching cartoon talking heads discuss sexual mores was strange

Here is the video in question to which I refer:

This video will also be placed within this post at or near the bottom of this post

As I’ve said before on this blog, in earlier blog posts going back years, while conservative Christians and secular social conservatives have, on occasion, erred in regards to their beliefs and teachings about sex, dating, and marriage (I’ve done many critiques about their views, see the section below under “Related Posts on this Blog” for a few samples) your Non-Christians (including atheists, progressive feminists, and so on), are also in error on different points.

Sometimes obnoxiously so.

Secular Sex Ed Failures, Secular Sexual and Biological Ignorance

Secular Sex Ed Failures, Secular Sexual and Biological Ignorance

Are you counting on secular sources to educate you properly on sex, biology, anatomy, or puberty? Are you counting on secular sources to even address a possible (negative) psychological and emotional consequence of having sex when you’re not truly ready, or don’t want to do it, but feel shamed or guilted by a date or culture, into having sex? Ha ha, well, good luck with that!

Not only do some Non-Christians hold false or weird ideas about sex themselves, but some Non-Christians like to portray all or most Christians as having false, shaming, or weird ideas about sex.

As someone who has followed a lot of Non-Christian, feminist social media accounts or who has dropped by their magazine sites to read their articles about sex, men, and sexism in the last several years, one recurrent theme that shows up is how ignorant teen boys and men in their 20s (and sometimes older men) are about sex.

I should maybe do a post about that later.

But the fact is, a lot of Non-Christian men, who are being raised in secular culture, some of whom have who even been exposed to secular sex education teachings in public school, have NO IDEA how a woman’s body works.

A lot of these Non-Christian men hold all sorts of false, bonkers ideas of how  menstrual periods work, or how a woman can get pregnant, for example, which shocks the secular, feminist women writers.

There are secular, liberal feminists who mock this secular, male ignorance all the time on their sites.

You can probably google to find examples of it. Maybe I will make a post about it later. I’ve seen a lot of it over the years.

Sexual Abstinence is, in fact, one way to totally avoid contracting STIs, sorry to inform the critics of Christian sexual ethics, or the high school kids in some of the quotes below on the BuzzFeed site, who lament that their sex ed teachings advised them (accurately!) that sexual abstinence is the safest bet.

There is no form of artificial birth control that is 100% effective. Condoms are cited as being 98% effective, but what if you’re in on that two percent failure rate?

Some forms of sexual acts, such as anal sex (which (Link): some secular teen magazines have been promoting in the last few years), are more liable to cause or spread disease and create physical issues.
See, for example, this SECULAR (Non-Christian) page about anal sex at WebMD, which confirms that:

(Link):  Anal Sex Safety: What to Know

Excerpt:

The lining of the anus is thinner than the vagina, and it lacks natural lubrication. That makes it much more vulnerable to tearing. Tears can allow viruses and bacteria to enter the bloodstream. This can include sexually transmitted infections, such as HIV.

Studies have suggested that anal exposure to HIV poses 30 times more risk for the receptive partner than vaginal exposure.

Anal intercourse can also boost the risk of getting the human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV may also lead to the development of anal warts and anal cancer. Using lubricants can help, but it doesn’t completely prevent tearing.

The tissue inside the anus is not as well-protected as the skin outside the anus. Our external tissue has layers of dead cells that serve as a protective barrier against infection. The tissue inside the anus doesn’t have this natural protection, which leaves it vulnerable to tearing and the spread of infection.

The anus was designed to hold in feces. The anus is surrounded with a ring-like muscle, called the anal sphincter, which tightens after we have a bowel movement. When the muscle is tight, anal penetration can be painful and difficult.

Repetitive anal sex may weaken the anal sphincter, making it difficult to hold in feces until you can get to the toilet. Kegel exercises to strengthen the sphincter may help prevent this problem or correct it.

The anus is full of bacteria. Bacteria normally in the anus can potentially infect the giving partner. Having vaginal sex after anal sex can also lead to vaginal and urinary tract infections.

Let’s face it: Sex can sometimes be an uncomfortable conversation topic when you’re young. Whether your school had a teacher attempt to explain things in health class or your parents sat you down for a “birds and the bees” talk, chances are you spent a majority of the time learning about sex wishing that you were anywhere else.

But sometimes trying your best to avoid an awkward situation can actually result in a much more awkward, embarrassing situation.

Recently, Reddit user u/wilson-volleyball77 asked,

“What is one sex education fail you’ve heard/experienced?”

Here are some of the best:

1. “If you use a tampon before sex, then you’re no longer a virgin. The number of people that believe this is unbelievable.”
—u/Typical-Cantaloupe48

“When I was a freshman in high school, my dad heard me tell my mom that I needed tampons from the store, and he freaked out. He thought that you had to have sex first before being able to use them. I was only 14, and I understood all that a lot better than him.
—u/sunflowerssunshine_

…6. “A guy once told me he thought periods lasted a whole month.”
—u/AstroLozza

7. “I was asked this question, ‘How will you be able to pee when you have your hysterectomy?’
—u/purely_logic

“I had to tell my first girlfriend she didn’t pee out of her vagina. She didn’t know she had a urethra.”

People Are Having ‘Sex Roulette’ Parties Where One Person Secretly has HIV

People Are Having ‘Sex Roulette’ Parties Where One Person Secretly has HIV

Some people are truly depraved. This is another time I am glad I am celibate.

A lot of people in American culture mock people like me who choose to refrain from sex, but I’d rather be abstaining than defiling and debasing myself and risking my health over stuff like this.

FDA: Only Celibate Homosexuals May Donate Blood

FDA: Only Celibate Homosexuals May Donate Blood

This is somewhat funny to me. The FDA has lifted bans on homosexuals donating blood, provided they abstain from homosexual sex for 12 months in a row prior to donating. In other words, they have to practice celibacy.

Now, I find this rather amusing because although I know for a fact that people can damn well go without sex for a lifetime, let alone 12 months, the rest of society – including many conservative Christians, sadly – run about assuming that nobody, no hetero or homosexual, can possibly go without sex, not even for ten minutes in a row.

Why, they teach, people just cannot refrain from sex! Sooner or later everyone is gonna do it, even Christians.

The truth is, everyone is capable of self control and does not have to cave in and have sex – but people choose to have sex.

One troubling aspect of this is that liberals are more concerned about being politically correct than in keeping the blood supply safe.

Some of these liberals even complain about even having a 12 month waiting period in effect (I’ve seen some of them complain about this in some of their blog posts or news articles, such as (Link): this ridiculous page by a Joe Durbin, and this (Link): other ridiculous page at The Daily Beast by Tim Teeman).

Actor Charlie Sheen Says on TV News Show He Has HIV – also says he had unprotected sex with women

Actor Charlie Sheen Says on TV News Show He Has HIV

I’ve read here and there on news sites, and have heard on news shows over the years, that Charlie Sheen was a promiscuous guy. I think some of these news sources says he’s even paid for prostitutes before.

Some sites are reporting that women he has sex with did not know he was HIV positive – he never told them this, but he had sex with them anyhow, and they are (understandably) very angry. (But at least one woman says, according to one site, she was not angry to find out he had HIV and she didn’t know, and one says she did know but had sex with him anyway.)

One of the only things I care to say about this is that it’s an example of how being celibate can pay off.

When you are abstaining sexually, you don’t have to be concerned about getting a sexually transmitted infection.

See, if you are celibate, you don’t ever have to be worry about making it on to an LEO list of people who have been exposed to HIV via consensual sex.

The only other observation I care to make about this story: why does a wealthy guy, that I think many women would consider attractive, have to resort to using prostitutes?

I bring this up because on a lot of dating, or “how to score sexually,” advice I see in magazine articles or in blogs (even on Christian ones – about dating only, obviously most Christian sources are not going to support casual sex forthrightly) assumes that if you cannot get dates (or sex), it’s because you are lacking in some way – you must be ugly, fat, poor, or some combination of all these factors.

But here you have a guy, Charlie Sheen, movie actor, who “has it made” by most people’s standards, and yet, he apparently cannot get a girlfriend on his own, but has to pay women to keep him company or to have sex with him?

Obviously, being thin, attractive, famous, and / or having money, as he does, does not guarantee getting dates, sex, or having healthy relationships, as so many dating columns suggest those things will.

I do believe that Sheen has been married a time or two before, so contra much of Christian wisdom, being married does not make a person more godly, mature, or sexually pure.

Edit. Nov 23, 2015:

  • Radar Online has dropped a huge bomb, (Link):  claiming that they are in possession of a video tape of Sheen engaged in sex acts with men.
  • “RadarOnline.com has viewed a series of outlandish clips as part of our investigation into the controversy engulfing Sheen.
  • “They show the drugged-up former Two and a Half Men star smoking a crack cocaine pipe and performing fellatio on a male lover. In a bombshell world exclusive, Radar can reveal that at least three videos were recorded of the thrice married father-of-five. The clips last about 30 seconds and depict Sheen smiling on cameras as he brazenly indulges in the illegal drug.”
  • …Business Times has revealed that there has been buzz around since 2011 that (Link): Charlie Sheen was knowingly spreading herpes to his partners.
  • “According to the media outlet, Sheen was the actor identified only as someone of ‘substantial international fame’ in the “J Roe v John Doe” lawsuit that alleged that a megastar hatched a ‘nefarious plot’ to lure victims into sexual acts despite having herpes.”
  • They also claim that Sheen has been secretly bisexual for years, and Sheen does not want that information revealed to the public.

  • by Adam Howard
  • Actor Charlie Sheen confirmed rumors that he has the HIV virus in a revealing interview Tuesday on NBC’s “TODAY” show, adding a shocking new chapter to one of the most unpredictable careers in Hollywood history.
  • “I am here to admit that I am in fact HIV positive,” Sheen told “TODAY” host Matt Lauer. “I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and of sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories that are about me, that threaten the health of so many others that couldn’t be further from the truth.”
  • Sheen said he first discovered he had contracted the virus that causes AIDS “roughly four years ago.”
  • …When asked if he knows how he contracted HIV, Sheen said, “Sitting here today, not entirely, no.” He did, however, rule out intravenous drug use.
  • In California, if you do not disclose your HIV status to a sexual partner you can open yourself up to felony prosecution, but there has to be further evidence to imply intent to infect. According to state law evidence that a person is aware of their HIV-positive status is not enough to prove intent.
  • Sheen also admitted to having paid off several unnamed people, some of whom were prostitutes, in order to keep his HIV status a secret.
  • He said the total of payoffs had reached into the millions and that several people he had trusted had betrayed him, which was in part why he was coming forward now.

Excerpts:

  • June 2015
  • Major updates — which revise 2010 guidelines — include alternative treatment options to help fight gonorrhea, which has become increasingly drug resistant.
  • Specifically, the combination treatment of oral gemifloxacin 320 mg plus oral azithromycin 2 g, or dual treatment with single doses of intramuscular gentamicin 240 mg plus oral azithromycin 2 g, has been shown to be effective against uncomplicated urogenital gonorrhea, Workowski said, with cure rates reaching 99.5% and 100%, respectively. The updated guidelines suggest these regimens can be used in place of cephalosporin.
  • “[Gonorrhea] is very savvy at developing resistance to antibiotics,” Workowski said. “It’s a really important addition to this version of the guidelines … especially in people who have allergies to the only known remaining antimicrobial, which is cephalosporin.”
  • The updated CDC guidelines also address expedited partner therapy (EPT) in the treatment of gonorrhea and chlamydia. Workowski said EPT is important with regard to gonorrhea and chlamydia because it enables people to get treated who either cannot access a physician or refuse to do so.

(Link):  Forget the facts – just blame abstinence education

  • The National Abstinence Education Association reports pro-teen-sex advocates have grossly distorted a report of an STD outbreak at a Texas school in order to discredit abstinence education.
  • NAEA director Valerie Huber says instead of the alleged 20 confirmed cases of Chlamydia at the tiny Crane High School in Crane, Texas, there were only eight cases for all of Crane county for the whole year. Nonetheless, Huber says pro-teen-sex advocates distorted the facts and blamed sexual abstinence classes.
  • “We actually learned that there is not even a sex-education abstinence class in the high school; the three-day program was in the middle school,” she clarifies. “And the outbreak really wasn’t an outbreak. So it’s not a story, but it continues to be made into a story to denigrate sexual risk avoidance abstinence education.”

  • Huber admits she isn’t surprised to think that this is pushback from sex-education advocates who are outraged that Congress provided increased funding for abstinence education.

“They’re looking for any opportunity to attack our programs and to try to eliminate them at the local level,” she tells OneNewsNow.

Huber says it’s unfortunate this story went nationwide because now there’s a national outcry to do away with SRA (sexual risk avoidance) education.
