A man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after he pushed his pregnant wife off a cliff so he could collect a life insurance policy.

…He had lured his wife – who was afraid of heights – to the edge of the 304-meter cliff on the pretense of taking a selfie, but then pushed her over.

A court heard how he committed the horrific act, which took place in June 2018, amid a twisted plot where he took out life insurance on her behalf worth $25,000, which he quickly claimed after her death.

A husband who pushed his heavily pregnant wife to her death from a cliff [located in the nation of Turkey] so he could collect a life insurance policy has been jailed for life.

Hakan Aysal, 40, was told Tuesday that he must serve at least 30 years before he can be considered for release by judges at Fethiye High Criminal Court, southern Turkey.

The court had previously heard that Aysal pushed wife Semra, 32, off a 1,000ft cliff in Butterfly Valley, a beauty spot around 10 miles south of Fethiye, in June 2018.

It didn’t become clearly apparent to me until after my mother died when I was in my late 30s just how incredibly selfish, self absorbed, and narcissistic people are, including Christ-professing Christians who may even attend church regularly.

Yes, I had brief flashes and intuitions in my youth and 20s and 30s prior to my mother dying that people could be jerks or selfish and so on, but I did not realize HOW COMMON it was among so many people, including Christians, until after my Mom died.

Until Mom died, I had assumed that most people (Christians in particular) were empathetic people I could turn to if I was ever hurting, in a bind, and in need of emotional support (and my Mom kind of led me to believe I could count on other people, especially family, for support) – boy wow was that expectation ever shattered.

The Christians I went to in my grieving process time (whether extended family of mine or people I met at churches I attended) were insensitive, callous,  unempathetic, or selfish (some acted like sparing 30 to 60 minutes of their time every several months for me to to talk to them about me missing my Mom would be a huge, huge burden to them).

I know better now. I really had my eyes opened to the fact that most people, including Christians, are selfish, unempathetic tools.

In light of all that, I can’t say as though I am shocked by the selfishness and entitled attitude of this church preacher:

Vinod, a 38-year-old writer, believes that for some, love is a luxury and the price you’ve to pay for it could often be crushing. He said he learnt this the hard way when, nearly a decade before gay sex was decriminalised in India, his first boyfriend cheated him off money just because Vinod could not easily break off their relationship for the fear of crushing loneliness.

The following married couple faked the wife’s kidnapping, and used the “Go Fund Me” account that was opened to provide funds to help the family find her to use that donated money to pay off their personal debt on their credit card. Both are parents. Un-freaking-believable!

I am not anti-Marriage, anti-Nuclear Family, or anti-parenthood, but all the other conservatives have to stop it with cramming the “hyper pro Nuclear Family / Marriage / Natalism” propaganda down people’s throats, which they do every few months, with their stupid, insulting essays containing their fear-mongering, shaming, anti-singleness, “oh no, people are not getting married any more, or choosing not to have babies any more, marriage is so much better for people and culture than staying single” pearl-clutching essays and editorials.

I see news headlines like the one below, and I realize that belonging to a Nuclear Family doesn’t make a person good, ethical, or wonderful.

A person can be a part of a Nuclear Family and still be a cold-blooded killer. So obviously, something else is going on here – the Jesus of the Bible said it has to do with individual sin – not marital or family status.

The Jesus of the Bible did not teach that the Nuclear Family will save a person or a culture. But Christians sure do keep behaving as though it will.

Did being a member of a Nuclear Family make this man in this news story, Joel Guy Jr, more loving, ethical, responsible or godly? Nope, it sure did not.

If you kill your mom over financial grievances and boil her head in a pot, I think it’s fair to say you’re an evil piece of garbage and that being in a “nuclear family” did nothing to instill character in you.

‘The most horrific thing I’ve ever encountered in police work – in my life’

(KNEWZ) — A trial has begun for Joel Guy Jr. — a man accused of murdering and dismembering his parents for cutting him off financially, then trying to chemically dissolve their bodies to cover up the crime.

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, a jury has been seated for the trial of Joel Guy Jr., who stands accused of murdering his mother Lisa Guy, 55, and his father Joel Guy Sr., 61.

Authorities claim that Guy Jr’s parents told him during the 2016 Thanksgiving holiday that they would be cutting him off financially. The son denies the charges and has pleaded not guilty.

Well, this is interesting.

I don’t watch TBN nearly as often as I used to, but every so often, I do flip the channel over to see what is going on over there.

Certainly in the year 2020, TBN has been airing “secular” commercial advertisements for a company called “Car Shield.”

I think they may have been airing these ads in 2019.

Of course, the original founders of TBN have died in the last few years, with the son and his wife running things.

When Ma and Pa Crouch (that is, Jan and Paul) ran the network, they detested commercials.

They used to have “Praise A Thons” where they’d get their regular, money-grubbing, smarmy tele-evangelists to come on 24 hours a day for seven days straight, to lecture people about sending money to TBN, and making bogus “Wealth N Health” promises, that if you just mail Paul and Jan Crouch a few bucks, God would heal your cancer or bestow financial blessings upon  you.

After they died (Jan Crouch (Link): died in 2016), I think the son who took over the station realized that “Praise A Thons” were “Snooze A Thons,” so he dumped them.

Soon after dumping them, he tried 30 minute “infomercial” type blocks, where he and his wife would have a Christian author on to hawk whatever book they had recently published.

The deal was, if you mailed TBN some money, they would mail you a copy of that book. (They also use to sell baubles – if you sent them a donation, they would mail you some Jesus-themed doo-dad in return.)

That went on for a few years.

I wondered at the time if they could sustain their network on just that alone. Apparently not.

A toddler who suffered from a neuromuscular disorder died last week in Brazil after his father allegedly stole the cash raised for his treatment and spent it on wild parties.

Two-year-old João Miguel Alves passed away October 17 following a lengthy battle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy [AME].

His father, Mateus Henrique Leroy Alves, 37, was arrested July 22, a week after his wife reported him to the police.

He was found at a luxury hotel where he had been staying at for almost two months having spent $150,000 on designer clothes, watches, drugs, hookers and booze, local media reports.

I noticed that starting some time around January or Feb. 2017, TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network – Christian entity), changed its programming a little bit.

They also changed their P.T.L. (“Praise the Lord”) show.

It’s no longer called PTL – they dropped the “TL” and now just call the show “Praise.”

The PTL show used to come on at 4 p.m., and then later around 9 or 10 p.m.

They not only switched up when the “Praise” show airs, but they changed how the show is run, which I am not happy with.

I almost forgot to blog about this. I really related to this guy’s letter (which I’ve included much farther below, both in text and video format – I’ve embedded the video that contains the letter at the bottom).

This guy wrote this question to the hosts of The 700 Club – Gordon Robertson was the host.

I wasn’t too impressed by Gordon’s response – I felt his reply was just “meh” or “so-so.” It was not an awful response, but I didn’t feel it was great and really answered the guy’s concern.

My interest, though, is not in Gordon’s reply, but in the guy’s question (or maybe it was a lady). This letter resonates with me so much. Sometimes I don’t know if God exists or not, and on some days, I skip praying, because some of the same 3 or 4 things I’ve been praying for over a period of ten or more years now have not been answered.

Either there is no God to hear my prayers, or he doesn’t keep the promises he makes in the Bible about meeting our needs and so on.
