Despite Marrying His Son’s Ex-Wife, and Allegedly Grooming and Dating Her While She Was Still Married to His Son, a Pastor Remains in His Position

I so tire of seeing other conservatives keep spewing out excessive marriage praise. Marriage does not, contrary to what those conservatives say, make people more godly, responsible, ethical or loving, nor does it “save” society.

I myself am a conservative, I am not against marriage, but I am opposed to the unrealistic views of marriage (and the nuclear family) that so many other conservatives have.

Also, let this be a lesson that finding a godly spouse in church is a joke – some of the biggest dirt bags and wolves attend church or work as preachers – and “equally yoked” is a joke and a waste of time if you’re a single Christian woman.

Stories like the one below demonstrate that a person doesn’t have to be holy, clean themselves up, be perfect, or be good to earn or merit a spouse from God (that was fairly common advice in Christian dating articles and books I read years ago).

Despite marrying his son’s ex-wife, and allegedly grooming and dating her while she was still married to his son, a Minnesota pastor remains in his position. The pastor’s son, however, is now going public with the 14-year-old, shocking story on TikTok—and his videos are going viral [his video on TikTok can be viewed here].

… Through a string of TikTok videos spanning months, Drew explained how their family split apart after his father married Drew’s ex-wife, following Drew’s mother’s death.

…Since then, Drew has published 21 videos, unveiling the stunning story.

According to Minnesota Family Law Attorney Johanna Clyborne, Bill Matthews’ marriage to Ana Lorena may not be legal.

Pastor Used Scripture Trying to Coerce Congregants Into Sexual Relationships, Prosecutors Say

Pastor Used Scripture Trying to Coerce Congregants Into Sexual Relationships, Prosecutors Say

I’m not sure if this guy is married or not, as the articles don’t seem to say. If he is, you know my take: contrary to Al Mohler and other marriage idolaters, marriage doesn’t make anyone more godly, ethical or mature, as they often claim.

Also, you don’t have to achieve holiness or perfection to merit a spouse from God, as some Christian dating advice books used to say.

Lastly, “equally yoked” is a waste of your time, Christian single ladies, and, tied in with that point, contrary to what my well-meaning Christian parents taught me, church is not a good or safe place to meet single men to date or marry, since the few that attend turn out to be perverts.

A pastor charged with inappropriately touching multiple women tried to use Scripture to coerce female churchgoers into sexual relationships, Delaware’s Department of Justice has claimed.

Bishop Major Foster, a former pastor at Philadelphia Pentecostal Holiness Church of Ellendale, faces pending charges of unlawful sexual contact. Prosecutors are asking women to contact local law enforcement if they’ve been abused by the pastor as they now have “reason to believe that additional victims may be unidentified.”

In a statement Thursday, Delaware authorities say that reports made to law enforcement allege Foster “attempted to use scripture to coerce female parishioners into sexual relationships, made inappropriate comments, and instigated prolonged hugs during which he made inappropriate sexual contact with his victims.”

Prophet Who Raped Male and Female Members of His Own Church Jailed

Prophet Who Raped Male and Female Members of His Own Church Jailed

(Link): Self-styled prophet, 60, who raped female and male members of his church at least 88 times in ‘spiritual baths’ he said had been ordained by God is jailed for 34 years

Excerpts:

A ‘feared’ evangelical pastor who used his trusted position to abuse children and adults over 20 years has been jailed for 34 years after his conviction for multiple rapes of members of his congregation.

Self-styled prophet Michael Oluronbi, originally from Nigeria and living inBirmingham, was found guilty of the offences against six women and a man in January, actions described by a judge as ‘one of the worst cases of sexual abuse of multiple children to come before the courts’.

Some of his offences were carried out after he convinced victims, five of whom attended his church, to take part in ‘spiritual bathing’, which he claimed would ‘cleanse’ them of evil spirits.

Poster Chapmaned24 Blocked On This Blog: He’s a Celibacy-Shaming Apologist of Pastoral Sexual Predators

I put an individual named “chapmaned24″ on block on this blog as of this evening, because he left a judgmental comment on my blog in response to a post I did about serial adulterer and serial Clergy Sex Abuse perp Tullian Tchividjian, all while seemingly suggesting I am judgmental, or a sinner, because I mentioned in passing in my commentary on Tullian that I remain a virgin over the age of 45…

(I don’t recall exactly which blog post it was, possibly (Link): this one)

Jesus Christ said in the New Testament, “Why do you call me, “Lord Lord” and do not what I command,” and he also warned that on judgement Day many will stand before him and he will tell them, “Get away from me, I never knew you.”

Is Tullian following Christ’s teachings on sexual behavior? No.

Why Black Church Leaders Often Get Away With Sexual Misconduct, and the Woman Breaking the Silence

Why Black Church Leaders Often Get Away With Sexual Misconduct, and the Woman Breaking the Silence

Excerpts:

…In recent months, Garrison said, she thought her relationship with the preacher [Couzens] was exclusive.

He even led her to believe that she could become his wife.

And Couzens kept her believing until one cold day in October, Garrison discovered he had proposed to another woman and didn’t bother to tell her.

…Now, after hearing from several other deceived women she says are too afraid to speak out publicly against Couzens [church pastor] , Garrison wants to use her voice as a wrecking ball against the culture of silence that has enabled rogue pastors like Couzens to exploit women in the black church without penalty.

She is also pushing to mobilize other women who have also been mistreated to force churches that have tolerated their behavior to start renouncing their sin.

…Prevalence of Misconduct

The Rev. Donald H. Matthews is an ordained minister who has taught at numerous universities and seminaries in the areas of black studies, religious ethics, sociology, and psychology. He has more than 40 years of experience in ministry.

In his 2012 book, Sexual Abuse of Power in the Black Church: Sexual Misconduct in the African American Churches, Matthews pointed to research suggesting that black females are likely to experience three times the amount of sexual abuse compared to their counterparts in white churches.

California Pastor Used Church to ‘Satisfy His Fetish’ For Explicit Photos – and His Wife Helped: Lawsuit

California Pastor Used Church to ‘Satisfy His Fetish’ For Explicit Photos – and His Wife Helped: Lawsuit

Here we go yet again. Conservatives, both Christian and secular, believe and promote untruths and falsehoods that marriage will make people more mature and empathetic and that marriage is so much better for society than people remaining single.

I have been a conservative going back to my teen years, and I heard all the pro-Family Values rhetoric all the time, rhetoric which generally includes bashing singleness or insulting single adults for being single.

Frequently, conservatives will blame liberals or feminism for “ruining” society and they will prescribe marriage and having children as “the cure”, but I sure as heck do not see traditional values, church, Christianity, The Nuclear Family, Family Values, or marriage or parenthood making society any better.

Married people are not more sexually pure than single adults. Many times, conservatives incorrectly assume that being married will cause a decrease in a person sexually sinning, and that all to most single adults are “horn dogs” who lack sexual self control.

Christians will sometimes teach that if you are a single adult who’d like to marry that you, the single, must meet some kind of spiritual standard or else God will not allow you to marry, that God will not “reward you with” a spouse.

Christians will teach singles that it is sinful to marry outside the Christian faith. They often based this on a verse or two that mentions being equally yoked, and the assumption seems to be that a Christian who marries a Non-Christian will “veer off course” and become a non-believer too or live a life of sin.

Here we have a news story of two Christians married to each other, one worked as a church pastor no less, but they are both a couple of perverts.

Being married did not keep this couple from sexually sinning. Being married did not make this couple more mature, responsible, godly, and God apparently did not mind rewarding both of these deviants with a spouse, because he permitted them to marry each other.

Lastly, I would rather marry an atheist who is not a pervert than be “equally yoked” to a self professing Christian man like the pastor in this story who sexually preyed on women congregants.

The woman, a mother of two in her 30s, sued former Church for Life pastors Robert Litzinger and Cindy Litzinger seeking compensatory and punitive damages, reported the (Link): Santa Maria Times.

Many Christians Really Do Prefer to Use Sexual Failures as Role Models As Opposed to Success Stories – The Tullian Tchividjian Come back

Many Christians Really Do Prefer to Use Sexual Failures as Role Models As Opposed to Success Stories – The Tullian Tchividjian Come back

I believe I’ve blogged about Tchividjian before – he’s a preacher who has admitted to having a series of affairs (more like CSA, Clergy Sex Abuse). Here as of late, several spiritual abuse blogs have noted that Tchividjian is making a comeback – when he should be permanently retired from the pulpit.

One spiritual abuse blog quoted this from another blog, by Mark Jones (source); I think the entire blog post is worth a read, but this is the most pertinent part for this blog’s purposes:

We can also look at Zahl’s article [about restoring Tchividjian to the pulpit] and come away with an almost shocking revelation, namely, that sin is actually a resume enhancement, not a resume killer. The Scriptures go to great lengths to speak about the personal piety of pastors.
